Have you ever heard the term ‘the bubble of dieting’? Let us introduce you to the bubble of dieting and also burst the bubble for you (pun not intended). Almost all of us fall prey to the marketing gimmicks used by weight-loss industry at some point in our life. Atkins, Ketogenic, Mediterranean, Low-Carb High-Fat, High-Carb Low-Fat, High-Protein Low-Carb, Juicing, Cleansing, and Clean Eating are few names of the diet regimes that promise weight loss in a healthy way (read ‘unhealthy’) and revolutionize your life. You start living in an idealistic world where you hate your current body and visualize that ‘perfect’ body (or booty?) which of course is ‘only’ attainable through extreme dieting. The truth is that a small ratio of people is successful in losing and more importantly, maintaining weight using these diet regimes. Rest of the weight-loss aspirants dwell in a state of confusion, depression, and self-loathing while still trying to gulp down those unappealing meals. Well, most of us lose initial 2-3kgs following a diet regime that gives us that ‘boost’ to continue advocating our choice of a diet program. Unfortunately, that weight loss is ‘water’ and ‘muscle’ loss, not the fat loss that is the ultimate goal of weight-loss journey. So let us tell you here; ‘you are living in the bubble of dieting’. The bubble is so fragile and unnatural yet so deceptive that it is hard to ‘not’ live in it. Let’s burst this bubble for now and ever!

Here is why the crash dieting will ruin your health in the longer run;
- Crash dieting will deprive your body of the nutrients causing nutritional deficiencies, muscle loss, and slower metabolism. If you make crash dieting a habit, your body will lose its strength, stamina, and muscle. You may be losing weight but your overall health will be deteriorated in the longer run.

- Losing weight (drop in 1 size) in two weeks is an unrealistic and unsustainable approach. You will find it hard to stick to a low-calorie diet and finally give up. Your body will regain the lost weight, leaving you even more frustrated. This is because the weight lost during crash dieting is not fat loss at all but water and muscle loss.

- Eating low-calorie food depletes the energy reservoir and results in an inability to focus on mental and physical tasks. This will eventually lead to irritability, decreased attention span, and a hazy mind.

- Studies indicate that crash dieting is bad for your immune system and leaves you at an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, Type 2 Diabetes, and Hypertension.

The side effects of extreme dieting are so detrimental for your physical and mental health in the longer run that you would want to immediately burst the bubble that you are currently living in. It is never too late but do not let your body suffer to the point where there is no return. Say Hello to a balanced diet and exercise routine to meet your weight loss goals while staying healthy and active.
