TECHNOLOGY: Electricity Generator Via Bicycle Axle
This is a little experiment on building human powered generator using bicycle and by this you can use it to power light bulb and other little power devices or equipment like blender. In this experiment the little explanation for this human powered generator to small production is applicable to construction of bigger capacity of generating set.

# Firstly what is Electric Generator?

In other to get the attention of everyone, i will not be more technical but i will simplify it by saying Electric Generator is a known to be Energy Converter and this basically convert Heat/Kinetic Energy into Electrical Energy. What i mean by kinetic Energy simply mean Energy in motion.

For Electricity to be generated there must be movement of some part, we shall see this as we move on.

The magic behind the Electric Generator is of one thing, which is the Magnetic Field. When discussion on Electric Current, the variation of a Magnetic Field can not be overemphasized. **Why**? Because it is the one that produces an Electric Current through a wire loop.

# The Experiment Application Explained

In other to generate electricity there must be source of energy which needs to be known to you generating  it. With this little experiment the materials needed for the completion of humanly powered generator are:

1. Bicycle Axle or anything that has a rotating axle.

2. Electric Motor

3. Bicycle complete guide for proper guiding during stationed rotation of the bicycle

4. Battery (preferrable 12V) 

5. Diode

6. Inverter

Starting the experiment with bicycle axle which is the source of energy,  the tyre and tube are removed and from the whole bicycle the parts needed are pedals and chain which must be perfectly okay and in good condition. 

Construct a stand for proper guide to the mentioned part above and position it in a way that the pedal will be free to move on rotation. There after attached the drive belt across the rim of the back tyre and make sure the distance measurement from the rim to the motor is done to be able to get the appropriate drive belt size. Further to the construction get a motor (12Volt DC) or you can get higher voltage battery but remember it is the amount of power you wanted that determine the wattage of the motor being used. 

For safety reason make sure the motor is firmly mounted to the stand constructed for the moving aforementioned parts. The spinning of the drive belt and the motor shaft should be concurrently and there should be no slipping between both the belt and the motor. 

Now I am introducing a battery which store the charge from the generating electricity and due to the fact that between the battery and the device I am powering inverter is between them then diode needs to be installed in other to avoid power surge from the generating supply and the inverter.

Diode is a device that allow the passing of current in forward bias and never allow electric current in reverse bias. The battery connection is done in a way that the motor and diode are in series to the battery. The both ends of the battery are connected to the inverter by making use of adaptor.


*Finally double check the motor and the belt that they are well positioned and firmly,  then ride on the bicycle and start pedaling the back rim will start to roll with the motor attached.  Get a multimetet and measure the voltage generated while the pedal moves. The more the exert the more power you generate*.
