Creating And Initiating Your Own Happiness [Final Part]

It is a known fact that happiness is free but it does not mean that it is not without price. The truth is that there are things that actually facilitate the achievements of happiness and there are conditions necessary in order for happiness to come. We have considered some of these points in our [last post](https://peakd.com/motivational/@samminator/creating-and-initiating-your-own-happiness-part-2), and we talked about the power of keeping company with happy people and how it facilitates happiness. We also talked about the need for adequate and timely rest/sleep in order to help one achieve happiness. Finally, we considered the need to smile often. Here, we shall take the final lap of the tips one can get handy with in order for them to achieve a state of happiness.

### 1. Going after your passion

During our secondary days many years back, one of my friends in school then was so passionate about art. I mean, he would draw just anything, from landscape to still-life, to portrait, to nature - just anything. As a matter of fact, he joined the art class and all he had was the hope of become an artist. Well, his parents, being lawyers, insisted that he must go to law school. In order not to fall out with his parents, he picked up the law school form and proceeded to it. After years of study, he finally became a lawyer and he presented the certificate to his parents and told them "here's the law degree you wanted, but that's not what I want."

Amazingly he applied for another admission to pursue after his passion which is art. When he got admission to study Fine and Applied Arts, you can imagine the happiness that radiated in his face. I mean, you could literally feel his heart leaping for joy. He studied the course, emerged as the best in his department and won many awards on the graduation day which included cash awards. He was able to use part of the funds to set up his own art gallery and that was what propelled him to limelight. Now, he is a fulfilled and happy artist.

There is a natural feeling of happiness that comes when you are in the line of your passion and doing what you are passionate about. Most times, it does not even matter how much you are paid to do something but what matters is the happiness that is drawn from it. There are some people that are in high paying jobs but have lost happiness and peace of mind in it and may even be feeling depressed each time they are in that particular working environment. Some have even resigned and picked up seemingly smaller jobs that they are passionate and happy about. After all, nothing is what sacrificing your happiness and joy for. So find what you are passionate about and pursue after it.

### 2. Through meditation

Some people may think that there are people who are exclusively made to be happy while some are not. Well, even if you believe that, the truth is that the human brain can be re-coded from being sad to being happy and one of the easiest ways to achieve this is by meditation. Sometimes last years, I undertook the Wim Hof meditation and breathing exercise and I can say that there was a noticeable difference that I discovered in myself. Meditation certainly improves clarity, calmness, happiness and attention.

When you start meditation, your mind will be cleared off all worries and give you a calmer soul which will easily trigger happiness. If you have undergone a meditation exercise, you will agree with me that right after the exercise, there is a calmness that comes within you and you will feel lighter in your spirit. Imagine when you make meditation part of your lifestyle, you will eventually re-code your brain to tilt towards happiness. The human brain is so adorable that many of the things that are experienced by an individual are as determined by the brain. When you understand this, you can recondition your brain towards happiness.

Even if something negative happens, how you respond to it can matter a great deal to your happiness level. You need to try to reassure yourself that what happened is just temporary and that there will always be a better way out. With this, you are not just re-coding your brain towards positivity but you are also helping to master your brain over your circumstances.
