Discovering Your Purpose 1

In this post, I talked about what makes you unique and the discovery of self. But someone could ask: "How do I discover my purpose and the real me?". Before I continue, I would like to remind us of this important quote by a friend:

Any fate that makes God absolutely responsible for the issues of your life is an irresponsible fate. - Pst Adeleye

In other words, you are absolutely responsible for the outcome of your life through your actions and inactions. And in this post, I would try to point us to the right direction on how to discover what we are meant to fulfil. I would be taking the episode 1.

There could be something you enjoy doing. Something that you would still do even if you're constrained from doing it, and even if you're not gaining monetary remuneration from. This could be a pointer to the fact that the area could be where you are meant to fulfil your purpose. And sometimes, this could be without recourse to your course of study.

Here's a story of a close friend of mine. He is a computer scientist by training, but he discovered his interest was tilted towards dancing and choreography. Even subconsciously, when he moves his body, people get wowed. He decided to take steps to work on this abilities. Guess what! He's now a dance coach and instructor. And no doubt, he's feeling very fulfilled in that area than with computers.

There's something I need to drop here: Even if everyone is choosing a particular discipline, it does not mean you have to choose it too. Everyone has different destination in the journey of life.

A particular story was told of a boy who wanted to be a footballer, but his father wanted him to be an accountant; maybe to take over his business when he retires. You know the powers vested on "fathers"; he was able to force the boy to take up the course. After four years of studying the course, he graduated as an accountant, and told his father: "Hey papa, I've gotten the certificate you wanted, you can have it. I'm going to enrol in the football academy". And today, he's a very celebrated footballer in the National league (and yes! His father is now proud of him).

You see, your purpose is yours to be fulfilled, and the full onus is laid on you to fulfil it. So get up and do the needful.
