Having A Heart Of Gratitude

When you look at your life presently and compare it to where you were last decade, even though you may not have arrived at where you expected, you will agree with me that you are many times better - so you still have every cause to be grateful.

A few things may not be working right in and around you but if you compare them to the things that are working, you will see reasons to be grateful. If you know how many people are wishing to be like you, the you will stop complaining about your current position.

I normally tell people that the situation they are currently facing is actually someone else's expectation. For example; you have no shoes to wear - well, some other people have their legs hung on the hospital bed and all they hope is for them to get the use of their legs back.

Each time you look within, there must be at least one reason you should be grateful. You are aware of the things you lack because you are sane and you have the correct use of your mind. Think about the insane man on the street without an awareness of his surrounding environment. If you think this is not an enough reason to be grateful, then think again.

Even if you think that nothing is actually working for you, well, I will like to remind you that your breath is still working, cos that is how you were able to know that those other things are not working. As long as you are alive and your breath is still working, then there is still hope of things getting better and you should be grateful for that.

Gratitude is not a state of perfection but it is the acknowledgement of imperfection and challenges but still focusing on the bright side of it. No matter how dark a situation may look like, if you look at it with the eye of hope you will still see rays of light in it. This is why I always tell people that there is still a ray of light in the deepest darkness - and for that, you should stay grateful.
