<div class="text-justify"> One of the greatest problems of the people in this era is lack of discipline which has led to the mentality of "everything goes." The truth is that freedom without boundaries is just like captivity in disguise. Even though you have the freedom to live your life, you have to understand that you should not do what you like because they will come with their own consequences. There are things that may not be illegal to do but if it negates your morality or your conscience, then you should avoid such things. You should beware of actions that can harm your conscience. <center></center> <center>Image from [Pixabay](https://pixabay.com/photos/man-warrior-jujitsu-discipline-5586338)</center> To set boundaries for yourself means to be be disciplined and to know what to do per time even if you do not feel like doing it, and to know what not to do even if you feel like doing it. It is what you do repeatedly and over time that will form your habit, so if you keep doing the wrong things, it will definitely lead to wrong habit. There are things that are often overlooked that are part of what cause serious wreck in one's character and may affect their future. Obviously, you will agree with me that if water starts gaining entrance into a ship, it may look negligible at first, but after a while, it will pose a serious problem for the ship and may even result in shipwreck. Many people have encountered problems because of lack of adequate discipline, or total indiscipline. Which includes indiscipline in appetite, in actions, in desires (sexual desire, bodily desires, etc), in speech, and a whole lot of others. The truth is that some things may be lawful for you to do, but the question is "are those things necessary at that moment and will they positively impact your life?" For example, the law may not stop you from being promiscuous as long as it is done with consent, but is it supported by morality? Is it necessary? What will you gain from it? Will your conscience be okay with it? When it comes to the issue of appetite and food for example, a lot of people are very indisciplined about it, and this has led many to various forms of health challenges. You do not eat just anything because you feel like, you should put nutritional value into consideration when eating. If people learn to discipline their appetite, a lot of health challenges would be prevented. I saw a particular quote in friend's office who is a dietician and it reads "your food can either make you healthy or sickly, so eat wisely." This quote reminds me of the popular quote by one of the ancient Greek physicians of renown; Hippocrates, he said: > Let thy food be thy medicine and they medicine thy food This shows the power someone can wield, health-wise, if they can discipline their appetite and eat rightly. Let's also look at discipline in the area of friendship and acquaintances. If you cannot set boundaries as to which kind of people you want to make acquaintance with, they may mar your destiny. It takes an extensive amount of discipline to tell someone "no" and stand by it. As a matter of fact, if you cannot say "no, or stop" then you are far from being disciplined. <center></center> <center>Image from [Pixabay](https://pixabay.com/illustrations/stop-sign-character-cartoon-halt-1715720)</center> When someone comes with an offer or something that negates your morality or your conscience, you need to be disciplined enough to tell the person "no" and maintain it. Your friends are meant to be a source of inspiration and of positive influence to you, not a negative influence. If someone is always leading you to do what you normally regret, then it is in your best interest to take a stand and set your boundaries. Always remember that you have a duty to protect your future, so do not allow a wrong association to hamper it for you. Finally, another aspect you need to maintain discipline is concerning rules and regulations. You cannot keep breaking the set rules and claim to be disciplined. In your office for example, there are rules that guide the staff, now ask yourself, how well you have kept such rules. Discipline also demands that you should condition yourself to abide by rules even if you do not feel like it. ***Thanks for reading*** <div class=phishy>Peace on y'all</div> https://files.steempeak.com/file/steempeak/samminator/htu0yqPT-unknown-2.png https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/samminator/242humvD58PJ6Y9Tgr8yEcPhbgmtiQCBYijcLDxqsQrjETUiqVUGwaYMZX3uuxN1C9fV6.gif </div>
