Therapeutic Engineering Has Gotten Expanded: {Unveiling the intelligent bandage that can fix your body}

I would like to remind us that a perfectly advanced technology is almost indistinguishable from magic. A new trail has been blazed in the field of medical science with the unveiling of the "intelligent wearable bandage" Or you can just call it โ€œSmart bandageโ€

I know some could ask: What is this bandage all about? Well, fasten your seat belts let's take a little ride into this amazing tech.

Bandaging healing kit

The term "bandage" is really not a new term. At least, it has stuck around for centuries. But a new phase in bandaging technology is about to be heralded.

Some groups of researchers and inventors from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard Medical School, and Nebraska-Lincoln University have made a mind-blowing invention of an intelligent bandage. The medications embedded in this bandage are stored in their individual fibres and can be activated from a smart phone.

Wearable technology is getting more impressive

The mechanics of operation

The bandage is embedded with fibres which conduct electricity and also contains soothing antibiotics gel. A micro-circuitry from the bandage is connected to a Smartphone wirelessly. The work of the fibre is to trigger the release of the gel combined with electrical impulses from the bandage at the stipulated time; and the wound gets healed (or rather "repaired" ), just like the Qigong energy popularized by Chinese Shoalin monks.

Future applications of this tech

This might sound weird, but advances are already being made to see a way to use this tech as a resuscitative therapy for brain-dead patients. Is that possible? The answer is an emphatic YES. This could be the tech that will ultimately alter the biological course of human existence permanently.

Similar Techs

Though these techs are in their infant stages, I can tell you this: This intelligent bandage is not the only tech to achieve these feats. Here's a list of some similar techs:

Temperature-responsive bandage: This kind also facilitates healing of wound. It responds to changes in the temperature of the affected (traumatized) area.

Nanoscaling sensor bandage: This one tracks the health of the individual using a 5G network data.

It is really amazing how technology is being incorporated in almost every field of human life, even in medicine. Tech always rules.
