Spiders, birds, and snakes, oh my! - Aussie differences from the U.S.S. Minnowprize- Local Fauna!
# @stitchybitch broadcasting once more from the helm of the U.S.S. Minnowprize! While we edit some more spectacular drone footage I am bringing you another segment on differences in Australia!

## I hope you enjoyed the last one and that this one is just as amusing!

# 1. Mosquitoes (mossies) are vindictive and cunning.
Unlike the derpy mosquitoes in Florida, the ones here have a damn plan. And they are downright unstoppable. I don't think there is a spray that exists that will deter them from eating me alive while @sammosk remains untouched. I can only assume I am an exotic delicacy.
In fact, the bugs here are brutal and leave me with blistering wounds. However, this is not the surprising part. What is surprising is that they know EXACTLY what they want. Specifically the softest parts of your body.
Tender parts of your hands and feet are particularly popular.

# 2. I have become desensitized to the presence of spiders.
I have overcome my fear of spiders via immersion therapy.
Normally when I would find a spider on my clothing or anywhere in my abode I would silently scream in horror and do the "OHGODOHGOD" dance. Now I just ask whoever is nearby if it will kill me or if it is okay to let go about its spidery business. Usually, the verdict is "eh, you *should* be okay".
I am slowly becoming fearless towards the 8 legged nightmares.
This morning I woke up and found a huntsman spider the size of my hand in the bathtub and just nodded and told it good morning. He may be terrifyingly big and fast, but he is going to kill stuff that may kill us. Because... Australia. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend" definitely applies.

# 3. It is not uncommon to walk outside and see a Turkey just chillin'.
This one threw me. One morning I awoke and went outside to have a smoke, and there was a damn prehistoric... THING looking at me. It resembled the love child of a turkey and a buzzard. They are known as bush or scrub turkeys and are not shy by any means. They will come through and nom anything you have laying around. Some will even knock on your doors and windows and demand to be fed. Also... they fly pretty well.
The creature in question:

# Speaking of the feathered friends... 4. Birds here sound like dinosaurs.
Stateside when you wake up in the mornings you will hear some quiet lilting birdy sounds. Perhaps the harsh crow of a rooster if you are in the sticks. An Oz morning is a cavalcade of noise. It is like they are all in competition to see who can make the most hellish sounds. It is like a befeathered apocalypse of noise.
When I was a child and used to sing "Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree, merry king of the bush is he, laugh, kookaburra, laugh..." I never imagined that they were SO LOUD.

# Despite all the differences, I have yet to be killed by the local fauna. Keyword being YET.
