God in the bible teaches us that our bodies are valued and must be well maintained. I started to realize that as I was learning this subject, a healthy life is a part of my worship to God. The bible in the book of 1 Corinthians 6:19 20 declares that body is the temple of holy spirit. This scripture is the only one that informs me that taking care of my health is not a choice; it is a responsibility. Among the earliest things I had to learn is the fact that God is concerned with our well-being, spirit, soul, and body. 3 John 1:2, says, Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health. This is an indication that God wants us to be healthy. Therefore, when I eat rightfully, sleep well, and take care to avoid the bad habits, I am in line with what God wants me to be. The bible teaches moderation and this makes me not indulge in too much, which can ruin my health. The other point that is significant is that to remain healthy according to the bible is to keep clean. God provided numerous guidelines in the old testament on the issue of washing, seclusion of sickness and maintenance of clean surroundings. Though such laws were spiritual, they also were good physically in their health. In Leviticus 11:44, God desired that his people be clean not just the moral part but the physical one as well. Even today, when I see such things as washing hands, keeping my environment clean and practicing good hygiene, I can see that it has become a sign of biblical wisdom. Another important constituent of being healthy is rest. On the seventh day, God Himself took a rest, demonstrating us the necessity to have time to rejuvenate our strength. Mostly, people will not focus on the aspect of rest, but Psalm 127:2 is a reminder that God is the one who bestows His beloved sleep. I have come to know that working too hard on my body does not reflect any strength but rather lack of wisdom. I do that as I relax and my mind and body rejuvenate. Spiritual health also influences the physical health. I feel lighter and healthier when I maintain my heart without bitterness, anger, and worry. In Proverbs 17:22, it is mentioned, a happy heart makes good as medicine. Happiness, contentment, and thanksgiving are effective biblical instruments that give healing to the mind and the body. In sum, being biblically healthy implies that I must take care of the body that God has provided me with, be clean, rest, eat well, and remain spiritually strong. These principles enable me to glorify God and lead the life that brings about his wisdom. These scriptures have made me view health as not only a personal ambition but also as a walk with God. </div>
