It is recorded that in Ancient Greece, a man named Socrates was known and honoured in high esteem for his wealth of knowledge. One day an acquaintance of his came to talk to him about something and said thus; **‘’Do you know what I heard about your friend?’’** *“Hold on a minute”,** Socrates replied. **“Before you say a word about him I would like you to pass a little test. It is called the Triple filter test’’.** **‘’Triple filter”** the acquaintance asked. **“Yes, that is right,”** Socrates continued. **“Before you talk to me about my friend, it might be a good idea to take a moment and filter what ever it is you are gonna tell me. That’s why I call it the triple filter test. The first filter is TRUTH. Have you absolutely made sure that what you are about to tell me is true?**
 [src](https://www.google.com.ng/search?q=gossip&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiX7-qfse3aAhUqI8AKHc1UDocQ_AUICigB)
**”NO”**, the man said, **“actually I just heard about it and…”** “**All right”** said Socrates “so you do not really know if it true or not. Ok now lets try out the second test **GOODNESS**. **Is what you are about to tell my about my friend something good?** **No,**” he replied **“ but i….”** **”So,’’ Socrates continued, “you mean you want to tell me something about my friend, but you are not certain is true or not good..** “Ok,” he continued the filter of **Usefulness** is the last test . Is what you what to tell me about my friend going to be useful to me? "No, not really but...'' **"Well, Socrates concluded, "if what you want to tell me about my friend is neither true, good or useful to me, why tell it to me at all?** >Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned? I called it "The Four-Way Test" of the things we think, say or do
**Kindly resteem this post if you found it true, good and useful. Imagine a world where we all work by the rule of triple filter**
