Today, two old friends are coming home so I can help with crypto. Both of them have made some investments before, purchasing some BTC and ETH but never gotten deeply into DeFi. I wanted to explain to them the way to use these tools together with bridges, and security and also try to qualify for some potential coming airdrops. It is too much information to do on a videoconference, so both will be coming home and I will be able to have them directly experience what I am teaching them while going through some of the transactions they need to move tokens from one chain to another and directly "playing" with the different DeFi services.

They both are friends from College, so I have known them for more than 30 years (I am getting old...) one of them works in the family business, and the other used to be a consultant and left to deal with his investments in TradFi and now also in DeFi.

These weeks, I keep planning all I need to do in the properties I bought in Portugal, as the one in the village needs a lot of work to convert it into a decent place to live. One of the most important tasks is isolation. Portuguese houses usually do not have very good isolation, roofs have tiles and no isolation at all. Plus what we purchased used to be a stable build about 100 years ago, so you can imagine there was no basic human comfort at all when it was built.

Last week, when inviting one of my friends to come home, I realized the family business he owns builds specialized packaging parts and consumes tons of EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) and PUR (Polyurethane), both, good isolation materials for construction. So I asked him for help. 

The result was this initial quick evaluation of the amount of PUR boards I will need out of the photos I sent him, he also offered to sell me the boards at the same price he gets them from the distributor. It turns out I will need 3,6 cubic meters to isolate all the roofs.

All of a sudden I realized I was using my crypto knowledge to trade for a traditional service! I never have thought of using my knowledge this way. It feels nice to help friends and I do it for free, but this time I am also getting something useful for me besides a big Thank you, and feels great!

Who knows if, in the future, I might be able to trade crypto knowledge for some professional work when I start working in the building 🙂
