My Selfmade Steemit Ad - An example and writing about movie production in a collective
## I love acting and making movies, like I did this weekend in this selfmade steemit ad. In this post I want to talk about my experiences in making movies in a collective.

One of my jobs is working as an extra, for movies and series. I allready took part in more then 20 cinema movies and TV series. It is one of the most fun jobs I did so far in my life. It's very interesting and feels like free time but is paid. Perfect for a 9-5 job hater like me. But when it comes to the creative part, those kind of movies don't have much scope anymore. Everything is planned and this plan needs to be exactly fullfilled. Thats why I love to make my own stuff. Thanks to the collective [Organic Creations Group](https://www.facebook.com/organiccreationsfilms/) all that is possible. I can more than recommend you to check out @organicfilms, the steemit account of the founder of this group and @yoganarchista, who is also very active in it. I will write another post about working as an extra soon, with lots of pictures. But now it's time for the experiences in an indiependent collective.

### No budget
#
Usually we have no budget. This of course has its downsides. For example we can't always afford fancy costumes for our projects. But when there is no money, the project is also not contaminated, thats a big plus. Making a no budget movie gives the greatest freedom in making movies possible. There will be just no greed involved. And greed kills creativity. Working without a budget supports the creativity because more improvisation is needed. Maybe because of that it's necessary to learn new skills to create requisite. Or to connect to people who can help out. DIY becomes very important.
#
### No hierarchy
#
Making movies out of the industry can mean no hierarchy. In the classic film industry the director is the "dictator" of the movie set. In indie productions it is way more possible to work as a collective. Working in a collective can sometimes cost a bit more time but can create a way better movie because of the organic synergy of a non-hierarchical collective. Anarchy comes alive!
#
### No script
#
I really like to make movies without a script. Sometimes I just hate writing and planning and prefer to instead just start recording and see what happens. This is when it comes to going with the flow. This steemit ad I showed you was also made more or less without a script. I had some ideas in my mind but not a single letter was written for it. Making movies without scripts can bring you into the moment: the location, the weather, the mood, the ideas. All those factors can be respected very well when there is no script, because you just have to adopt. **Improvisation fires creativity.**
#
### A high learning curve
#
Working in a collective can lead to learning a lot of things. Because everything is about sharing and synergy, suddenly the actor learns new things he or she didn't know before. Like post-production. Or how to do the sound. There is just no seperation in the different fields of finishing the movie.
