Been on Etherdelta? I hope you have created a new MEW-wallet and transferred all your funds there! Still not safe
## If you're using these kind of exchanges, and buying these obscure ultra small tokens that aren't yet listed on other exchanges, I suppose the odds are quite large that you know a little bit about what you're doing.

If you're that into Cryptos, you should check twitter, steemit and general news on cryptos every morning and evening as a minimum to know what's going on.

The reason is this. Last week Etherdelta was hacked by a pretty sophisticated hacker(s) who went as far as to create a site that resembled Etherdelta, with fake order books etc. They accessed the sites DNS records and replaced the domain.

>Hundreds of thousands of dollars in ETH and tokens were stolen, but it was believed that people logging in through MEW or Metamask were safe. Etherdelta told people not to log in to the safe, and that we would be safe if we didn't do that. I'm not sure if they urged people to create new MEW-wallets.

One big trader, called Tommy World Power on Twitter had his funds stolen, and on his to-do list was to withdraw funds off it. Too late - Everything in his MEW-wallet was hacked and stolen, even if he wasn't even logging in to Etherdelta.

I wrote the same day the hack happened that I urged everyone to do as I did - namely to create a new MEW-wallet INSTANTLY, do not put it on some stupid to-do list. I think I spent 3-4 hours just learning how to withdraw contracts from Etherdelta and then transfer it all to my new MEW. Result from acting fast? No funds lost!

## Cheap(free) lesson learned

These kinds of things should not make you afraid of pushing forward into the unknown realm of cryptos and diving deep, and learning new stuff. We have to take some risk and some effort in order to learn. That's just how it works. This was a very cheap, or actually totally free lesson in most cases.

What we've learned is that we should never compromise our wallets or private keys. Always look twice, always think about what you're doing. Never assume anything. Be adventurous, but cautious!
