This development brings us tantalizingly close to the game-wide launch of Land 1.5, and I can't help but share my enthusiasm about the positive impact it's set to have on the entire Splinterlands ecosystem! So, what's the buzz all about? Well, brace yourselves for a revolution, because Splinterlands Land 1.5 is bound to shake things up in the most extraordinary way possible. The team's hard work and dedication have culminated in an update that promises to reshape the dynamics of the game, economy, and overall experience for both new and seasoned players. https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/seattlea/23swZn4uQb34ZbLWUrRpkDd5Zy9ZtaovYdZdfd8oo6dyPudXWXyA3NNKe3MpiBR5FgJnj.png For those who might not be familiar, Land 1.5 introduces a concept where players can stake their cards on land by spending DEC tokens. With 150 thousand plots available, the collective power of these land plots is staggering. However, let's delve into some numbers to understand the profound implications. With each plot demanding roughly 50 thousand DEC, the potential value for a fully utilized land would equate to a jaw-dropping 7.5 billion DEC tokens. Now, that's a staggering figure, and one might wonder if we have enough DEC in circulation to make this a reality. While the total DEC supply is around 4.6 billion, not all of it is readily accessible. A significant chunk, approximately 1 billion DEC, is held by Splinterlands the company. Another billion DEC is tucked away in liquidity pools. As liquidity pool participants begin to pull out their DEC, the resulting rise in APR within these pools acts as a siren's call for more investors, effectively creating additional demand for DEC. Furthermore, some DEC is locked within the DAO, and additional DEC is required for various functions such as card rentals. Taking an optimistic view, we're left with approximately 2.5 billion DEC available for potential use. Now, some skeptics might argue that achieving 100% utilization of land upon launch is an unlikely feat. But even if we aim for a 50% utilization rate, we'd still need 3.75 billion DEC. In light of this, the available 2.5 billion DEC falls short. The impending demand from landholders who might need to purchase more DEC on the market to participate could very well push DEC towards its peg value. Interestingly, we're already hovering around 83% of the peg value. And this is just the beginning. Once the peg value is reached, the avenue to acquire new DEC becomes a tantalizing prospect โ the burning of SPS to generate new DEC. And that's where the flywheel effect comes into play. The flywheel is a mechanism where SPS gets burned to generate new DEC. This burning of SPS effectively reduces the supply of SPS, which, coupled with the increasing demand, can propel the price of SPS in a parabolic ascent. Unlike some tokens, SPS doesn't have the ability to reverse this process by burning DEC for SPS. The SPS token is set on a trajectory that could potentially lead to astronomical heights. Right now SPS has been on a short term downtrend which could be attributed to people selling SPS to acquire more DEC for land, but once DEC reaches peg this will no longer be the case and people will just burn DEC for SPS instead of selling. This current downturn might be the last chance to acquire SPS around 2 cents! But that's not all. The launch of Land 1.5 will trigger a massive demand for cards. As these sought-after cards become more scarce due to land-related activities, their availability for brawls, ranked play, and rentals will decline. A reduced supply of cards naturally drives up rental and card purchase prices, creating an exciting cycle of value enhancement for both players and investors. Higher value of SPS will drive card prices higher as ranked play and brawl earned SPS will become more attractive. As value of SPS rises so will the APR in stable coin liquidity pool which will become very attractive to outside investors as these stable coin pools pay out in SPS. Splinterlands Land 1.5 isn't just an update; it's a transformative leap into a future where gameplay, economics, and token dynamics intertwine in unprecedented ways. The potential unleashed by Land 1.5 is vast and multifaceted, promising thrilling journeys for players, creators, and investors alike. So, get ready, fellow Splinterlands adventurers, for a journey that's bound to leave an indelible mark on the world of blockchain gaming.
