There seems to be zero understanding of the reverse auction, and I think a part of that lies in a lack of a clear help section on the site which explains how the system works. Sure, there are loads of posts on it all over steemit... But no one has the same amount of faith in posts as they would an integrated "here is how it works" section of the site itself. [Screenshot_2017-08-10-08-38-12.png](https://steemitimages.com/DQmdanb9exJXJZmYGm8tftK9aXVomMAajRDiV9258aJS5iQ/Screenshot_2017-08-10-08-38-12.png) But, one more post it is: Stop speed voting. Please. Please please please. I don't know if it's uninformed minnows, or just poorly built bots, but it needs to stop or the curation rewards system needs rebuilt. When you rush to vote on a new post as soon as it drops, you're killing the curation rewards for everyone... Including yourself. The first 10 votes get most of the rewards because of the curve which is still somewhat of a mystery formula. BUT if they all happen in the first 15 minutes of the posts life, they're gone. The rewards from them all go to the author, not the voter. Well... 99% of them do. This is the reverse auction. 99% in the first 15 min, 50% in the 15 min after that. And that's all well and good, except now the curve is broken... Because those first 10 voters make up 80% of the curation rewards for the post. The result? The person who rushed gets 1% of 80% of the rewards... So a post that climbs to $500 in curation rewards, you will see a whopping $0.20 or so. (It's not an even split for the top 10, but I just divided by 10 because when fighting for crumbs the size of the crumbs isn't really important.) - 500 curation, divided 50/50 with the author. - 80% of that goes to the top 10 for their speed votes (divvied up between them by dividing by 10). - And then they only get to keep 1% of that reward because they voted so fast. Waiting 15 min would have resulted in a $10 reward. $10 vs $0.20 So just slooooow down. If your going to rush, rush in the second 15, not the first. The difference is massive.
