Just accept the present moment. Wherever you are, whatever you like or dislike about it, just let yourself like or dislike it. 

Try to just let it be without wanting it to be anything else. The things you want are on their way, they just need time and a clear path, so get out of the way, mind. Be in the moment and take everything and just accept it, and the moment will pass on to the next. 

Do you feel bored? 

If you do, it must mean that you don’t trust that what you desire is on the way, because if you knew your excitment and enjoyment and emotionally charged thought about it would bring it closer, you’d find a way to feel more. 

What would a golden retreiver do?  They’d probably play with whatever they could find to play with. They’d listen and smell. 

We can look and listen, becauee those are the senses we are tuned to most accutely.  

There’s a whole lot of squeaking because it’s rainy today. Everyone’s shoes sound like those squeeky baby shoes. Even the big old man with glasses and a grumpy face who just walked in. 

Imagine a baby wearing squeeky baby shoes and such a grumpy face. Impossible!  

Children get it better than adults do.  This is because everything is stil lfresh for them, they haven’t yet become numb. But we don’t HAVE to be numb. We just let it creep in because we don’t want to be weird. But there is so much play we can do without anyone even noticing. 

We can imagine all kinds of silly things. We can appreciate music with our full attention.  We can try to read people’s minds and practice telekenesis 😆 why not?

Today I looked up at a tree and realized it was a very badass tree and I had only recognized it today, even after walking under it 200 times before.  It’s in the garden of an old house and it’s arm stretches out to the street outside. 

It really is a badass tree. I should have taken a picture but it was raining and I had an umbrella. 

If you get stuck freling your senses aren’t amazing, just try contemplating the fact that you exist. Imagine that your world is just sensory input and that there is no proof that it exists the same way for everyone else. You might be the only one here, the rest a simulation. Matter is 99.9% empty space. Just a few electrons making things tangible instead of intangible. Think anout that!!!  The table your sitting at is 99.9% empty space.

Imagine the same table was made in a factory, piece by piece, probably in another countey. It was packaged by one person and shipped by another and there were probably forms filled out and money transfered in bank accounts to facilitate a transaction. And now it holds up my computer as I type. 

Imagine every time you push a button on the wall, it sends an electric wave to turn on or off a light bulb, or that you were once collection of chromosomes inside your two parents that formed into a human when they did the deed. Gross, I know. Except not really, it’s pretty amazing. 

As you read each word imagine how this structured form of language formed.  It may have just started with a few grunts to express the most basic ideas, or more likely it was an offshoot of another language that started that way.  Imagine what was happening in the very same spot you are in now, 30 years ago, 300 years ago, 3 hours ago. 

These are just extreme examples. Don’t get lost in the concept of solipsism, it’s just a fun mental exercise. It could be true, but there is no way for you to know definitively and so it’a probavly best to assume that other people are real too, even if it is more complicated than it looks on the surface.  We only percieve a tiny fraction of wavelengths that hit our eyes, most vibrate at frequencies that our eyes can’t comprehend. 

My grandmother always said “Bored people are Boring” and she’s right. You don’t need to get ecstatic anout every little thing in life. But a mild kind of curiosity as a default state is probably the healthiest way to approach life, and if you can’t find it, shake things up for yourself. Buy a plane ticket to a random place or try something you were too scared to try. Ponder any of the questions above. Question everything, just for fun, if nothing else. 

Or just try and be blank. Don’t think any thoughts. See how long you can do it. Don’t get frustrated with yourself if you can’t. Your thoughts will reveal things you if you just let them be. 

Observe. That is all. 

All your dreams are on their way and it’s your curiosity and excitment that will hurry up the process, so create a mentalcand emotional environement for them to grow and follow where they lead you.
