Like most people we also love to travel and have fun in the summer with road trips, picnics and spending time outdoors. But in 2024, we thought, why not try all these fun things in the winter too? So we did. Instead of sitting at home, we decided to go on long winter drives.

We planned to travel from Stockholm to Gothenburg. Surprisingly, there was no snow, no rain, just cool sunshine and clear roads. The trip had two specific goals: to taste the famous Lahori pizza and to shop in Ullared.

When I shared this plan with our family friend Waqas, his family immediately wanted to join us. And so on November 2, 2024, we all set out together: Stockholm – Gothenburg – Ullared.

Whenever we travel, we try to make the most of every opportunity. I rarely miss an interesting place along the way especially if it’s on my “ODD EXCURSION” list! This trip included a unique place that had been on my list for a long time: Borrås Skåra.

**What is Borrås Skåra?**

Borrås Skåra is actually a deep crack carved into a large rock. It’s located near the Swedish city of Varberg. It’s about 100 meters long and 10 meters deep. This place had been on my list since Waqas sent me an Insta-Reel of it. Now that our route was passing through it, we had to stop!

To be honest, I didn’t know it would be so easy to get there! There was a parking lot nearby. Since the sun was about to set, I wanted to reach the crack in the light. I didn’t know how safe the path was for children, so I asked everyone to wait and I went out with Hamza and Ilma. We followed a small trail to the top. Then when I saw that the path was quite steep and slippery, I called my wife and told everyone else not to come.

Now we I, Hamza and Ilma were standing in front of this amazing and mysterious crack. This is a place that is full of stories and legends. It is said that this large stone, which is stuck on one end, was stuck here by the strong flow of water during the Ice Age.

**Legend**
The famous legend here is that this large stone is hanging from an invisible silken rope, and until the last person in the world passes under this stone, it will not fall!

According to another story, after the wedding in the late 1800s, the groom had to carry his bride in his arms and carry her across this crack.

**Should I go here?**
Regardless of the stories, Borrås Skåra is a truly fascinating place. The walk here is short, but it feels very special, memorable and natural, a little thrilling and the stories make it even more fun! Walking under that big rock was a unique experience, which is difficult to describe in words.

You can go with children, but I would recommend it only if you are used to such places. The path is steep and slippery and the path is rocky.

**Finally, a friendly warning:**
There are risks in going to such places. If you want to go, do it at your own risk. If you have even the slightest doubt about safety, it is better not to go!
