*A moment in history*

Too many unforeseen incidents in no time, has ended with foundations stone, in that particular area.

It was 6.00 a.m. early hours of one fine morning. This incident happened in May 1991. The schools were having their Annual vacation for two months. But colleges were functioning. All were busy with their daily chores.

I was a Degree second year student. As usual getting ready for college and was busy ironing my clothes..

On the other end, my brother was busy polishing his shoes sitting in the porch and sister half asleep in bed. Mom, as usual, busy in the kitchen preparing breakfast and lunch.

As part of his routine schedule, my father went to the nearby milk booth, to get a packet of milk. Usually, he goes for a short walk and then comes home. But that day was not like the other days. He came in running, before the expected time, gasping for breath.

In a state of shock, we came beside him and asked what was the matter. He was half broken and said our earlier Prime Minister and then president of Indian National Congress, was assassinated by militants. The worst part being, this place were the incident took place, was just few kilometers from our place. To make sure if the incident was true we switched on to the television and to our disbelief, the news turned out to be true.

We and all our neighbouring friends, were forced to stay indoors, for fear of being attacked. News kept on spreading like wild fire many innocent peoples were killed and shops around were being burnt, pedestrians and public were being attacked by hooligans.

Though we were safe, the other side of our area was disturbed due to this violent mobs. For a moment, I was relaxed that colleges would remain closed for a week. But then when the news of the assassination went on live in television channels, it was an overwhelming situation to see his family in tears and accept the fact, that he is no more with us. May be this is called the testing time.

How could humans behave such cruel and brutal to his own people, still remains as an unresolved question to me.

He was an adorable person with lot of good qualities in him. A person with great charn. My respects for this great personality-
Shri. Rajiv Gandhi

That day was a fateful morning in most of our lives, who lived close by.
