In this article I'd like to touch a little bit about how the most basic of symbols have a chemical, biological, and energetic effect on human society as a whole and individuals in particular. # Platonic Solids <hr>  The *Platonic Solids* are, in three-dimensional space, regular, convex polyhedrons. They are constructed by congruent (identical in shape and size) regular (all angles equal and all sides equal) polygonal faces with the same number of faces meeting at each vertex. There are only five solids that meet this criteria. They are: - Tetrahedron - Cube - Octahedron - Dodecahedron - Icosahedron  Plato theorized that the [classical elements](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classical_element) were made up of these solids. > The tetrahedron, cube, and octahedron all occur naturally in crystal structures. Everywhere you look you will find ancient occult symbols plastered all over billboards, products, magazines, clothing -- everywhere. It's easy enough to say that these symbols are simply propagated because they have an ancient history and there's something about the human psyche that's naturally attracted to them, and there's no malicious intent behind them. In part, I believe that is true, but only in the sense that the ball got rolling by those with malicious intent and the rest of culture simply kept the ball rolling. > It goes without saying that, in today’s world, occult practices are very rarely used by a very small number of people. Occult symbols, however, is another issue. Although they mostly go unrecognized, be sure that you see occult symbols quite frequently in your daily lives. With their meanings depending on the culture, occult symbols are used in many different countries throughout the world. Like a crystal or gem, its facets and symmetries compel our eyes and hearts to observe life more deeply. Some have believed that the Dodecahedron represents an idealized form of Divine thought, will, or idea. To contemplate this symbol was to engage in meditation upon the Divine. Today many people believe there is a lost knowledge residing in the past, slowly being rediscovered. Geometric patterns are an inherent property of our natural world at its most fundamental levels, weather it's chemical, biological, energetic, or abstract. [Masaru Emoto](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masaru_Emoto) claimed that human consciousness has an effect on the molecular structure of water. > Emoto believed that water was a "blueprint for our reality" and that emotional "energies" and "vibrations" could change the physical structure of water. Emoto's water crystal experiments consisted of exposing water in glasses to different words, pictures or music, and then freezing and examining the aesthetic properties of the resulting crystals with microscopic photography. What I think is that ancient peoples understood the power of symbols and geometric patterns, not only in the realm of human psychology but also in biology, chemistry, and energy. These ancient people hid their knowledge of these things behind a veiled system of occult revelation, wherein initiate would be progressively exposed to the nature of these symbols until they came an unspoken understanding of their power. This occult knowledge has since been used in media and culture to subtly affect the psyche and physiology of people and the natural world; to shape the world slowly over the course of centuries into the vision that those who hold the knowledge of this power desire.
