The art of recycling is a good thing that we do for our planet, for our lives and, even though many people don't do it often (like me), I know how important it is for the entire ecosystem. I believe that many cities, whether in Brazil or not, are already doing their part by offering ways for people to recycle their trash. In my daily life, I don't do this much, but the truth is that there aren't many specific collection points for trash, such as separating organic or plastic waste, for example.

This selective waste collection no longer exists in the shopping malls here in my city. There are usually specific bins for each type of waste, which helps a lot with recycling. Of course, this is a private initiative, we are talking about shopping malls. In my city, there are recycling points, about 14 cooperatives (doing a quick Google search) that receive and process recyclable material, showing that here we also have a way to recycle and not just leave the trash lying around. This reminds me that we also have strong enforcement against the irregular disposal of trash on vacant lots.

Another cool thing is that the city has 5 different waste collection points, called ecopoints, where they receive free recyclable materials of all kinds, such as paper, plastic, glass and metal, even construction waste and tires. These points are spread throughout the city and unfortunately they are far from where I live, so I believe they are more useful for those who live close to them, but there are also efforts to expand these points, after all, good ideas like this should be supported and taken to more places.

So, recycling cooperatives are present throughout Brazil, each state and city certainly maintains its own points that carry out this work, leaving the cities cleaner and also generating jobs directly or indirectly. Projects such as ecopoints should also exist, so each city takes care of its trash in a different way and how people can help with recycling. Now, speaking a little about myself, reinforcing what I said at the beginning of the post, I don't usually recycle much, but that's because I'm not the final author of the story.

Since I live in a vertical condominium, I usually collect all the trash from my apartment, including smaller plastic bags, in a larger 50-liter bag, and then I go downstairs and put it in the trash can in the common area, under the block where I live. From then on, I don't know where the trash goes, but probably the administration and employees have a daily process there, which consists of picking up this trash and taking it to a larger trash can and waiting for the city hall to collect the trash. So, for this reason, I don't usually recycle anything directly.

Now, remembering now, there's also a really cool example of how my city has projects to lessen the impact of trash and its byproducts. There is a program called “cata-treco” (junk collection) that consists of you calling a city hall number and they will come to your home (in my case, a condominium) with a truck and pick up your closet, bookshelf, wardrobe, sofa, anything of that kind that you want to get rid of. So, when I moved, for example, I had to call them to come pick up some large and old things, so that they would take them to the correct place for disposal or recycling.

Well, that’s it, my daily life with trash and recycling is like that. In any case, if you can recycle or help with this, do it, it’s a good thing that you’re doing not only for yourself, but for everyone!

A arte de reciclagem é um bem que fazemos para o nosso planeta, para a nossa vida e, por mais que muitos não façam com frequência (como eu), sei da sua devida importância para todo o ecossistema. Acredito que muitas cidades, quer sejam no Brasil ou não, já fazem a sua parte oferecendo formas de que as pessoas reciclem o seu lixo. No meu cotidiano, não faço muito isso, mas, na verdade, é que nem tem muitos pontos de coleta específicos para os lixos, como a separação do que é orgânico ou de plástico, por exemplo.

Essa coleta de lixo seletivo não existe mais nos shoppings aqui da minha cidade, lá sim costuma ter lixeiras específicas para cada tipo de lixo, o que já ajuda bastante na reciclagem. Claro que isso é de uma iniciativa privada, estamos falando de shoppings. Na minha cidade, existem sim pontos de reciclagem, cerca de 14 cooperativas (fazendo uma pesquisa rápida no Google) que recebem e processam o material reciclável, mostrando que aqui também temos uma forma de reciclar e não deixar o lixo simplesmente jogando por aí. Isso me faz lembrar que temos uma fiscalização forte contra o descarte irregular de lixo em terrenos vagos também.

Outra coisa legal é que a cidade possui 5 pontos de coleta de lixo diferenciados, chamados de ecopontos, onde eles recebem gratuitamente os materiais recicláveis dos mais variados, como papel, plástico, vidro e meta, até mesmo restos de construção civil e pneus. Estes pontos estão espalhados pela cidade e infelizmente ficam longe do lugar onde moro, então acredito que servem mais para quem mora perto deles, mas também existem esforços para que estes pontos sejam expandidos, afinal, ideias boas assim devem ser apoiadas e levadas para mais lugares.

Então, as cooperativas de reciclagem estão presentes em todo o Brasil, cada estado, cidade, com certeza mantêm os seus pontos que realizam esse trabalho, deixando as cidades mais limpas e também gerando empregos direta ou indiretamente. Projetos como os ecopontos devem existir também, então cada cidade cuida de uma forma diferente do seu lixo e de como as pessoas podem auxiliar na reciclagem. Agora, falando um pouco de mim, reforçando o que disse no começo da postagem, não costumo fazer muita reciclagem, mas é porque não sou o autor final da história.

Como moro em condomínio vertical, geralmente junto todo o lixo do meu apartamento, sendo sacolas plásticas menores, em uma sacola maior, de 50 litros, e com isso, desço e coloco na lixeira que tem na área comum, embaixo do bloco onde moro. Dali para frente, não sei para onde o lixo vai, mas provavelmente a administração e os funcionários têm um processo ali, diário, que consiste em pegar esse lixo e levar para uma lixeira maior e aguardar a coleta de lixo da prefeitura. Então, por este motivo, não costumo reciclar nada diretamente.

Lembrando agora, tem um exemplo bem legal também de como a minha cidade tem projetos para amenizar o impacto do lixo e derivados. Existe um programa chamado “cata-treco” que consiste em você ligar para um número da prefeitura e com isso eles vêm na sua residência (no meu caso, condomínio) com um caminhão e pegam seu armário, estante, guarda-roupa, sofá, qualquer coisa desse tipo que você queira descartar. Então, quando fiz minha mudança, por exemplo, precisei ligar para eles virem pegar algumas coisas grandes e velhas, sendo assim, iriam levar para o lugar correto de descarte ou reciclagem.

Bem, é isso, o cotidiano da minha vida com o lixo e reciclagem é esse. De qualquer forma, se você tiver como reciclar ou auxiliar nisso, faça, é um bem que você está fazendo não somente para você, para todos!
