https://i.imgur.com/MCOXdrV.jpg When I was growing up, television was an important part of my life. I learnt how to speak English from watching countless cartoons everyday. This however isolated me from other children and my parents took note. I had many friends but I never had time to play with any of them. Since I liked learning, my parents started buying me educational toys. Some of these toys I could use or play with alone, like my PC game. Some however required a group to play with, this is when board games started to be part of my daily life. https://i.imgur.com/h24si82.jpg [source](https://pixabay.com/en/board-game-competition-strategy-761586/) Board games are a great way for children to learn. They teach strategy, problem solving, mathematics, odds, norms, working as a team, ect. This brings back memories of one of my favourite board games, snakes and ladders. This is a great game for teaching children how to add and subtract, also it teaches them about odds. My cousin and I used to play it for hours on end every single day. Because it is a multiplayer game, it's great fun and an opportunity to learn to play nicely and to have patience with other children. ## How to design your own board game for your children or learners Firstly you need to decide on what you want to teach. Is it Maths, English or any other language, Geography,History? Once you've figured this out you can then proceed to building the content for the game. Once the content is there, you'll then start to design the game. According to [instructables.com](http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Make-an-Educational-Board-Game/), things to consider at this stage are: * How many players * Length of the game * What choices players will have * How game progresses * End goal of the game Now come with a sketch of how you want the game to look like. After building content and deciding on the rules and regulations, this should be a breeze… or not. The main point is to have fun with this as your audience (children) will be having fun using your creation. https://i.imgur.com/ND9s9bm.jpg [source](https://pixabay.com/en/hands-keep-font-lettering-enjoy-895595/) I hope this post will enable you to see teaching in a fun and exciting way so that you can teach your children better. Happy creating!
https://imgoat.com/uploads/2bb90e8976/71996.gif
