_It comes and goes in waves, it always does..._

I am not exactly sure what I want to write. I've got this tune stuck in my head and it's eating me alive to write it down. But how exactly _do_ you write down a tune? I wrote down the lyrics, but the tune doesn't seem to have come off my head.

We've all been there and when we've had a tune stuck in, we have tried listening to the song over and over haven't we?! That seems to only scratch the itch momentarily. And while a lot of the time the tune eventually dies away, it doesn't entirely hit the satiety center somehow. Somehow, something still feels.....well, _itchy._

I guess it's not really the tune that gets stuck in, instead how we _feel_ when we listen to it? And maybe that's what the itch is....to write down how we feel? I don't know.

That's probably equally difficult. _Feelings_ is a complicated phenomenon of hormonal interaction within the brain. And while it is true that we can get away with saying we're angry, or happy, or sad etc. very easily in our day to day lives...it gets hell of a lot more complicated when you begin to associate music with it.

It's no longer _just_ angry that I feel, no longer _just_ sad, or happy. It's an abstract that I feel. And it seems near impossible to describe.

The lines above are from a song called "Waves," by Dean Lewis. The lyrics are of desperation and depression. And the tune, definitely sad. But yet I don't really feel the _sadness._ I feel kinda light, and maybe even elated _(?!)_ somehow! I know there is a bit of sadness down there somewhere. This specific song just stirs minor ripples on it, but doesn't exactly bring out the sadness.

So what exactly do we feel when we listen to a song? Or do we actually feel _nothing_ and a song merely brings out multitudes of feelings buried deep inside and what we actually feel is a cocktail of our deepest, buried emotions?
