<center><b>ESPAÑOL</b></center> *** <div class="text-justify">Saludos, hoy 15 de Junio 2023. Las lluvias continúan, algo intensas, así que espero que disminuyan y caigan gentilmente sobre la tierra, sin causar estragos. El agua es muy necesaria, así como el sol, pero todo en exceso es dañino. Y hoy, luego de una semana, les traigo el número 64 de mi seriado <b>Cinco Sabios Refranes Venezolanos</b>, posts que hago con la intención de compilar, resguardar y difundir los refranes venezolanos, parte fundamental de la tradición oral de mi país.</div> *** <div class="text-justify">Recientemente hacía memoria de los refranes que se decían y dicen en mi familia, y ciertamente, varios de mis familiares eran bien refraneros, especialmente los ancianos, muchos de los cuales ya no están en este plano de existencia. Recuerdo a mi abuela paterna y sus ocurrencias, ella era muy refranera y a veces yo no entendía lo que decía, así que me explicaba. También a mi Tía Chichita, quien era 100% refranera y también me explicaba el mensaje implícito en cada dicho.</div> *** <div class="text-justify">Estos refranes son de uso libre, no tienen autor, no tienen dueños, son propiedad colectiva, así que obviamente yo no los inventé; lo que sí hago yo, es presentarlos y analizarlos. Para compilarlos anoto lo que oigo día a día, recurro a mis recuerdos, o consulto libros específicos, como los citados en la bibliografía de esta publicación. Vamos entonces con los 5 refranes de hoy.</div> <center>  </center> <center></center> <center><b>1) “El que nada, no se ahoga.” </b> Es un refrán que sirve para indicar la necesidad de esforzarse cuando se quiere lograr un objetivo. También se usa para indicar la importancia de trabajar, para así poder subsistir. Es un refrán muy cierto.</center> *** <center><b>2) “El que nunca ha tenido y llega a tener, loco se quiere volver.”</b> Es un dicho aplicable a aquellas personas que pierden la cabeza cuando tienen una cuota de poder, pues la vanidad y la estupidez los ciega, y sacan a relucir su esencia déspota, e incluso cruel. También se aplica a las personas que llegan a tener algo de dinero, y son seres muy despilfarradores, un nuevo rico cualquiera.</center> *** <center><b>3) “En peleas de burros, pierden los pollinos.” </b> Un pollino es un burro joven, diría que cachorro; así que cuando pelean los burros grandes e interviene un pollino, éste será golpeado y agredido dentro de la pelea. Este refrán se aplica generalmente para advertir que en la confrontación entre personas con diferentes niveles de poder y jerarquía, es decir, en peleas de grandes y poderosos, los menos poderosos no deben intervenir, porque saldrán perjudicados, lo que se conoce como daño colateral.</center> *** <center><b>4) “El que da lo que tiene, a pedir se queda.” </b> Si somos excesivamente pródigos, que regalamos todos lo que tenemos, (tiempo, esfuerzo, dinero, recursos, energía), eventualmente nos quedaremos vacíos, sin siquiera un soporte para vivir. Así que hay que ser generoso, pero en su justa medida.</center> *** <center><b>5) “El que da y quita, el diablo lo visita.” </b> Es un refrán con el cual se indica, que es malo, es incorrecto, obsequiar algo, para luego arrebatárselo a esa persona. Si obsequiamos algo, eso debe quedarse con quien lo recibió, porque de lo contrario sería un feo gesto, una mala acción.</center> <center></center> <center><b>ENGLISH</b></center> *** <div class="text-justify"> Greetings, today June 15, 2023. And today, after a week, I bring you number 64 of my series <b>Five Wise Venezuelan Sayings</b>, posts I make with the intention of compiling, safeguarding, and disseminating Venezuelan sayings, a fundamental part of oral tradition from my country.</div> *** <div class="text-justify">I recently remembered the proverbs that were said and are said in my family, and certainly, several of my relatives were good proverbs, especially the elderly, many of whom are no longer on this plane of existence. I remember my paternal grandmother and her jokes, she was very proverbial and sometimes I didn't understand what she was saying, so she explained to me. Also to my Aunt Chichita, who was 100% proverbial and also explained the implicit message in each saying.</div> *** <div class="text-justify"> These proverbs are free to use, they do not have an author, they do not have owners, they are collective property, so obviously I did not invent them; what I do do is present and analyze them. To compile them, I write down what I hear every day, resort to my memories, or consult specific books, such as those cited in the bibliography of this publication. Let's go then with today's 5 sayings.</div> <center>  </center> <center></center> <center><b>1) “He who swims does not drown." </b> It is a saying that serves to indicate the need to make an effort when you want to achieve a goal. It is also used to indicate the importance of working, in order to survive. It is a very true saying.</center> *** <center><b>2) “He who has never had and comes to have, wants to go crazy."</b> It is a saying applicable to those people who lose their minds when they have a share of power, because vanity and stupidity blind them, and they bring out their despotic, and even cruel essence. It also applies to people who get to have some money, and they are very wasteful beings, a nouveau riche.</center> *** <center><b>3) “In donkey fights, the young donkeys lose.” </b> A young donkey, is a puppy; so when the big donkeys fight and a young donkey intervenes, it will be beaten and attacked within the fight. This saying is generally applied to warn that in the confrontation between people with different levels of power and hierarchy, that is, in fights between the great and powerful, the less powerful should not intervene, because they will be harmed, which is known as collateral damage.</center> *** <center><b>4) “He who gives what he has, to ask stays." </b> If we are excessively prodigal, that we give away everything we have (time, effort, money, resources, energy), eventually we will be left empty, without even a support to live. So you have to be generous, but in its fair measure.</center> *** <center><b>5) “He who gives and takes away, the devil visits him." </b> It is a saying with which it is indicated, that it is bad, it is incorrect, to give something away, and then take it away from that person.
