PARO is a therapeutic robot developed by Japanese automation pioneer AIST.

### PARO has been found to reduce patient stress and their caregivers

<hr>

Actively used in hospices, assisting in the dementia, process PARO is one of the few “companion robots” which function as a sort of pet for their owner.

The plush seal robot can learn from its interactions how to behave with its companion.

> PARO can learn to behave in a way that the user prefers, and to respond to its new name. For example, if you stroke it every time you touch it, PARO will remember your previous action and try to repeat that action to be stroked. If you hit it, PARO remembers its previous action and tries not to do that action.

PARO is already in use since a while in several hospice programs and actively assists elder people by its presence.
