Here are a few sightings of the week for this #featheredfriday  The first sighting was a green heron gulping down a fish. One second earlier and I could have captured the fish in his beak.  I waited around hoping to see him catch something else but he had no luck.  We also visited the osprey nest that was being built earlier. Now I see one of the osprey parents sitting on the eggs.  She was squawking to her mate who was off in the distance. Probably hungry for fish. I hope to get back here again to see the babies once they've hatched and possibly while they are practicing to get ready to fly.  Here is a rare sight an orchard oriole. I heard its strange call and looked around and fortunately saw it in just enough of an opening in the scrubby trees.  I also saw a female flying around but couldn't get a shot of her.  I did see a baltimore oriole female later on though. She was a good poser but her mate was busy catching bugs flying quickly up to their nest to feed the baby.  It must have been breaktime for her.  Their nest was well hidden in these leaves and the babies were making quite a racket inside.  This juvenile downy woodpecker was making a racket of his own looking for insects.  I even caught a glimpse of an eastern wood pewee. Sadly my camera focused on the branch it was sitting on. Quite small birds but I hear their call all the time in the forest.  Last up is a juvenile bluebird that just left the nest. Getting some nice blue feathers in and learning how to be a grown up bird. That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
