0.000 HBDTeletuesday - Some Relics
Here is a relic'd tele style guitar for #teletuesday by @steevc with some true vintage guitars later on. For this Nash relic'd telecaster I was trying out some flash settings in the shop to see if I could get the purple sparkle finish. Sadly the experiment of the flash setting kind of made it look a bit spooky. Before I could go back in and shoot it normally someone had already bought it lol. Some things just catch people's eyes. Also take note of the cool looking tweed amp briefcase on the far left, the shop owner liked bringing it in to work for his "day job". Here is a 1962 National Val Pro 82 aka Map Guitar. The only thing not in mint condition is the pickup switcher plate that is kind of tarnished. Here you can really see why they call these map guitars, because of the weird shaped body. They used to put more pizzaz into shapes back in the 60s. This one sold for around $2,100. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/yLTXdIpwMvk" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> The White Stripes play a similar style of national guitar, just a little less map shaped and with two humbuckers instead of just one. Now for an even weirder guitar, a Rickenbaker convertible. It's called a convertible because you can "convert" it from a 12 string to a six string with a weird locking comb device under the strings. This thing was in mint condition and the owner just had it for show in the shop. I gave it a few plays and tried the convertible aspect of it. The only problem is it still feels like you are fretting a 12 string and sometimes your picking hand can hit some of the muted strings that have been pulled down by the comb. Just another crazy invention from Rickenbaker, has a great 12 string jangle sound to it. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/iCaXGR3NgOY" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> You can get an idea of the tone from this video. I think I've run out of telecasters to show for these posts so looks like I'll have to go back to making telecaster videos for #teletuesday :-)
