Interest is paid out any time there is movement of the savings balance and it has been at least 30 days since the last interest payment (and non-zero balance some time during that period, and calculated interest is at least 0.001).

It doesn't matter how long the HBD has been in savings, you can get paid interest for one day or even three seconds (1 block) of savings, as long as the above rule applies.
