There was a time when I was younger and full of hope. As a new Steemian, I told anyone and everyone I knew about this wonderful social media platform where people are paid for posting content. I wrote this article for Steemit and Facebook when I was a youngling: https://steemit.com/steemit-evangelism/@snowpea/calling-all-homemakers Yes, I do know Steemit is only two years old. 😂
Even as recently as a month ago, I shared this with friends and family on FB:

So what made me change my mind? 

For one thing, I get that internal eye roll. Maybe this hasn't happened to you, and maybe you've even gained some disciples. Well, whenever I evangelized in conversation, people would just shut down. Some listeners nodded here and there, and maybe they asked a couple of questions, but the vibe I usually got was *not interested.* It was better than the *I don't understand anything you're saying, therefore you come off as a crazy person* vibe. 😉😂
After mentioning Steemit a few times, the internal eye roll showed. Just below the surface. I could tell the majority of those I talked to didn't want to be unkind, but they were sick of hearing about it. 

A couple of people in my life challenged me, and called Steemit evil names like, "scam" and "pyramid scheme" (that is before I got a couple decent payouts). I feel that I've reached as many people as I can, save hitting the streets as a blockchain thumper. I've said everything I could say, and everyone in my circle has already been reached.

When I was having a conversation on discord this morning, Steemit and Busy weren't loading. I learned from @c0ff33a that it was a widespread problem, and the whole system was in meltdown. This was when @fiftysixnorth voiced some concerns that have been on my mind as well. In his words, he said, "Yes, steemit is having issues today. This happens from time to time. I think I read somewhere that steemit needs more server nodes? Thing is steemit is growing too fast for the infrastructure.. One of the problems with the creators being so 'hands off' with the system. I'm not sure if its related to witnesses and that we need more.. or that there are too many inactive witnesses in the top 50 .."
I agree that his theory about why Steemit was down is probably true.

Not to mention there is only so much of the reward pool to go around. We're gaining people in the ballpark of 17,000/day. In my slightly competitive mind, the dark side of me asks, "Do I really want to share?" Did I really just type that? 😅 Yes it's true. Shame on me for being so selfish!! That said, I've heard this a few times, have you? *"I wish I got in early!"* Why do people say that? Because there were less people, and more of a chance of being noticed! Taking this to its logical end, you must realize the more people there are, the more obscure you are.

My last reason is this: my new series entitled, "My life is based on a true story." It shares a lot of very personal information. Most people here don't know me in person. I don't think the people I know on Facebook need to read some of this stuff. For instance, I don't think my mom would appreciate our mutual acquaintances and extended family members knowing that she wanted her future grandson to be aborted 11 years ago. Best to just stay on the down low for now.

So is this sacrilege, or is there some credence to what I'm saying? What do you think about Steemit evangelism?
