Loading from a recently started game I am already in one of the big communities, its that one that they used an old stadium to build a strong hold there. I talk with some NPCs and buy some items before heading back into the wasteland. Going next to that robot operated garden, with my buddy dogmeat.

I fast traveled to check out the loading time when the game is locked at 60fps. Seems this games code has not aged very well, as load times are directly tied to the games framerate. There are mods to fix this, but you can also change some settings in the `fallout4prefs.ini` file.

Before going to the robotic garden I go through the cutscene for the Diamond City start.

They let me in along with my dog, the mayor does not seem very happy.

I fast traveled back to the Diamond City after checking out the robotic garden and walked into quite the mess.

Picking sides I try to kill Riley, but it would seem I am dead meat as everyone else shoots me.

So instead I reload and try to pick pocket instead.

Walking into some houses I find items like stim packs and clean water.

I find myself up on top of the buildings, seeing what else is around in Diamond City.

Eventually I try out a trick to unlock the framerate. By going in the `fallout4prefs.ini` file and changing the value for `iPresentInterval` that will unlock my framerate and make the loading screens go faster.. What could go wrong?

Well right away I noticed some issues with that, my animations are sped up quite a bit. Makes wondering around the wasteland feel weird.

Piper joined me after I returned back to Diamond City, I usually go with dog meat so this is a new companion to me.

I need to explore some of the other mods for this game, using the Nexus mod manager it makes it quite easy to change settings and then revert them when you want. There is a mod that unlocks the framerate for the loading screens but then changes it back to 60 FPS for the gameplay. I should give that a try and see how well it works, as the loading screens are painfully slow while my fps is locked. But if I want to play with unlocked FPS then the game speed is going to be all weird. So looks like just changing that value in the `fallout4prefs.ini` will not be a good fix, as I have to restart every time I change it. So looks like the mod will be the way to go.
