Eventually you have to follow your own light. 

Nobody knows where you're supposed to go or what you're supposed to do but you.

Is not by posting long story, or by begging for upvote

Just try and make your post captivating, post interesting something that will interest the audience
Short post that looks like a twit (Twitter post) most times gets more attention and upvote than the longs story types, just believe in yourself. Let your write up have all that fancy words that touch the minds Steemit is for everyone it does not choose who to make rich, steemit is like the universe is big enough for everyone to make it 
Another thing you really need to consider is your tag, the tag you use fetch you more attention that you will ever expect, have witnessed someone making a sentence on her tag

You might make a good post but your tags would disqualify you from getting an upvote, especially when you are a newbie, that  you don't even have enough followers to see your post and upvote you. 

So all this things need to be post into consideration,
Steemit  is not by who first start, so don't think I didn't start early that's why am not making it well your introduction post can fetch you a thousand USD its possible its happening here on steemit

Try and create and impact and your staying here will never be the same
