Let It Breathe: A Lyrical Detox and Masterclass in Vulnerability
***"Let it Breathe"*** literally letting yourself breathe; allowing time to do the healing. Maybe you're surprised seeing me write about a trap or rap song since it's never really been my niché and you might be wondering how then I came across it. Well, tune it down with your worries, lol.... The song found me actually or rather the random shuffling list did so and yep! I'm writing about it because of it's deep reflective masterpiece. Not just that, it's lyrical masterclass is something I genuinely can't keep to myself.

Gunna is one of the few trap artists I enjoy listening to, maybe, it's because he isn't as fast-paced and aggressive as others, lol..

***"Let It Breathe"*** is a blend by Gunna featuring Roddy Ricch released in May 2024 as part of his album, *One of Wun.*

It's often said that suffering breeds new friendship and sometimes a lasting one probably because you saw someone who was going through a tough time as you were. That was the case here, two wounded lions came together and came up with this masterpiece...

Gunna had the inspiration following the controversy around the Young Stoner Life case to deeply reflect on his mental health... The controversy is definitely a story for another day but, it's quite popular as the Georgia's longest trial that took almost Ten months just for jury selection alone.

***Enough of the backstory.... What do I see in this song?***

The music unlike most trap songs that will begin with loud-pitched energy vocal, *Let It Breathe* starts on a cool piano-led instrumentation creating an environment for the inspirational words to sip down your memory lane, then, followed by superb vocals.

##### Some of the lyrics that resonates with me..

***"Had to take the time and I'ma let it breathe"***

Sometimes in life, we just need time to reflect on all that has happened and work on getting our mental health to the optimum, we need say *a healing time*. The world isn't all rosy like we all know as it's filled with many ups and downs and we don't always have to show up pretending to be strong all the time, sometimes, a meaningful distancing from the public *(kinda going into solitude)* and reflection might be necessary, talking to someone who cares about you, putting down your feelings in writing or basically vocalising them in songs help , whatever that works for you but that detox is needed sometimes.

***Still movin' on my 'lone 'cause it's hard to trust***

This goes hard to remind us that trust Is a virtue so hard to earn and so easily broken, but just as it's hard to earn, once broken becomes almost impossible to regain too. Never backstab someone who had your back in life, it almost always never ends well.

***"I ain't been havin' time, I'm on my grind, it's all fate"***

Staying committed to growth and perseverance even after pain isn't always something easy to do but it's life and it's bound to happen. Acknowledging pain yet refusing to accept defeat could be a perfect response because guess what? Once you keep grinding and keep showing up, you'll definitely bounce back and might even get to a level you were never before.

Let's say that's the power of consistency and never giving up.

*****

Well, those are the perks that came with the song, it's one I'm sure you'll definitely enjoy.
