<div class="text-justify">Hello everyone! <b>Lester</b> here! How's your grinding so far? Are you now playing your Daily Focus in Modern or Wild Ranked Formats? If you would like to know more about these new formats, check this post from @Splinterlands - <a href="https://peakd.com/hive-13323/@splinterlands/modern-and-wild-ranked-formats">Modern & Wild Ranked Formats</a> for the latest updates in Splinterlands.<br><br>For this post, I will share my experience and thoughts in Modern Format and will try to unveil new line-ups that will help us climb the ladder. Before we proceed, let's take a quick recap of Wild and Modern Formats. According to Splinterlands, <b>Wild</b> format is - <i>"This format allows the use of all cards from all editions. Every battle that you are playing right now is a Wild battle."</i> and <b>Modern</b> format is - <i>"This format only allows the use of cards from newer editions: Chaos Legion, Dice, Untamed, Reward & Promo cards with an Untamed or Chaos Legion style frame are all considered Modern cards."</i> So basically, there are fewer cards that you can use in Modern Format. And also, you need less power to reach each league in Modern Format compared to Wild Format.<br><br>Some might still be confused on what cards to rent/buy that can be played in Modern Format. Fortunately @peakmonsters has a function to show you what cards belong to Wild and Modern Format.</div>

On the rightmost side of the Renter's Board, you can filter the cards show by clicking either Wild or Modern. It also has the function to show Rewards cards only from Untamed and Chaos Legion. Personally, I always use these functions to lessen my renting hours. Big kudos to Peakmonsters for doing this. 😁

#### <center>Modern Format Battles</center>

---

<div class="text-justify">Going back. Since there are now lesser cards to play with in Modern Format and some combos are not available anymore, I will share my thoughts regarding some line-up that might be useful.<br><br>The first line-up is from Earth Element. In Wild Format, a 13-mana cap with an Active element of Earth almost guaranteed a win if you use the combo of Scarred Llama Mage and Flesh Golem. However, Flesh Golem is from Alpha/Beta edition, thus it cannot be played in Modern Format. As a substitute, you can try this line-up Scarred Llama Mage and Goblin Psychic. Scarred Llama Mage will increase Goblin Psychic and also has Tank Heal ability. Check the replay here- <a href="https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_dec47a8d27cc7cd4d2692c367d31894c">Scarred Llama Mage/Goblin Psychic.</a><div>

---

<div class="text-justify">Moving on to Death Element, Summoner Waka Spiritblade offers a nasty poison ability to allied monsters and I think will be one of the most used summoner in Bronze League because not all element has a monster with Cleanse and there is no Neutral Monster with Cleanse ability. Check the replay here - <a href="https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=714de3079f2144569d88edb99b69681ff7b79528">Waka Spiritblade.</a></div>

---

<div class="text-justify">For Dragon and Fire Elements, we still have the OP summoners Byzantine Kitty and Yodin Zaku. Byzantine Kitty and Ancient Lich Combo can still beat the Scarred Llama Mage and Kron the Undying Combo in Modern Format. And have you tried Yodin Zaku with Countess Sinash? This combo will sure kill the weakest soul from the enemy.</div>

<div class="text-justify">Going to Water Element, you might want to try using monsters with high Speed stats like Djinn Oshannus and Phantom of the Abyss together with Kelya Frendul's +1 Speed. Having high speed stat in battle is a huge advantage, except of course in Reverse Speed ruleset. Check the replay here - <a href="https://splinterlands.com/?p=battle&id=sl_51dc26c8d4b7607708fc12aa4624c226">Kelya/Djinn Oshannus/Phantom of the Abyss.</a></div>

<div class="text-justify">And the last but not the least, we have a new legendary summoner from Life Element - Grandmaster Rathe. And I believe that this card will be a game changer in Modern Format with its anti-magic ability.</div>

<div class="pull-right">https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/splintercell-01/AL5xiR1BWPucLNVNMQbCtHRaUZjYjVEbugbuP781uxYLP4Af2og8iCiw65PaF9f.png</div>
<br>
<i>Grandmaster Rathe was the son of a blacksmith who taught him all he knew about the art of forging. However, he didn’t share his father’s interest in large weapons and heavy armors; he preferred those that were small and light, like daggers and other blades that could be concealed on one’s person. He also didn’t want to spend his entire life around the forges. They were hot, the hammers were heavy, and the work was hard.</i>
<br>
Check my other post here regarding to Grandmaster Rathe <a href="https://peakd.com/hive-184309/@splintercell-01/splinterlands-card-review-grandmaster-rathe">Splinterlands Card Review - Grandmaster Rathe.</a>

#### <center>My Opinion</center>

<div class="text-justify">Surely, there are now lesser cards to choose from and you might not be that familiar with different game plays using limited cards only. But looking at the brightside, if you want to start building your own deck, cards from Modern Format is quite cheaper than those cards in the Wild format. You also need less collection power to reach higher leagues. And this offers new players to come in to Splinterland and enjoy the game. And I am sure, this game will be more exciting when the Riftwatchers is released.</div>
