SSG-Community : Embracing Change and Volatility
Change can be scary and difficult to implement but if change is done right then it can lead to really positive outcomes. The way the @ssg-community account votes on members content will be changing on September 1 and we will make a few posts over coming days about what the precise details of those changes will be, but for now it’s worth taking a high level look at some of the things we might expect to see so that members are not surprised.

Change often brings with it some volatility. There is simply no way to know whether subscriptions will be UP or DOWN as members can make their own decisions – it’s totally outside of our control. So the Hive Power (HP) that @ssg-community uses to vote with might change a lot as members adjust their delegations, and this could happen quite quickly as September 1 rolls around. We also don’t know if subscribers will change their posting behaviour. Maybe people will post more frequently and have renewed zeal for posting relevant content to the #SilverGoldStackers tag, or maybe post behaviours will not change at all. So these unknowns also make it very difficult to know what vote weights to assign to each membership tier. The @ssg-community account has had fairly stable Voting Power (VP) for some time around the 88-92% range, but this will probably be a bit volatile in early September too as we cope with both the delegation and posting behaviour changes. Eventually the voting service will find a new equilibrium and we will do our best to tweak it along the way to dampen the volatility, but in the short term we should all expect some volatility of the HP and VP on the account and not be too concerned by it.

For members who are concerned about the size of their upvote and their ROI (Return on Investment) I would encourage you to withdraw your delegation before September 1. While Precious has always tried to give out a great ROI to members this is not the primary focus for Precious and a good ROI is not expected for subscribers who do not make an effort to post relevant content to the #SilverGoldStackers tag.

That said, those members who want to support the precious metals content being produced by their fellow members should absolutely consider keeping, or even increasing their delegation to Precious. We still need all the support we can get and that is especially true at times like these.
