### Another Steemit refugee back for more!

Hello Hive!  Hello LeoFinance!  I'm here to re-introduce myself.

If you've been around crypto for a bit, you may have run into [The Top Ten Index Fund Experiments](https://toptencryptoindexfund.com/) somewhere out there on the interwebs.  

This is my baby, my little passion project, first shared with the Steemit community years ago...

### **What are the Experiments all about?**

Well, instead of hypothetically tracking cryptos, back in [January 2018](https://toptencryptoindexfund.com/tracking-2018-top-ten-month-one/)
I made an actual $1000 investment, $100 in each of the Top 10 cryptocurrencies by market cap.

Why?

Why not?  

Everyone was going nuts over crypto in 2017 and calling for the next moonshot project.  Everyone had an opinion, the shills were shilling.  I wondered how an Index Fund approach would fare compared to trying to pick the best projects on my own.  

Just one problem: there were no Crypto Index Fund products out there.

So I made my own!

### The result? 

Disaster!!  By the end of Year One, the 2018 Top Ten Portfolio [was down 85%](https://toptencryptoindexfund.com/tracking-2018-top-ten-month-twelve/), my $1000 worth only $150.  

### So I quit, right?

Nope.  

A glutton for punishment, I not only continued the 2018 Top Ten Experiment, I then *repeated* the experiment on the 1st of [January 2019](https://toptencryptoindexfund.com/tracking-2019-top-ten-month-one/), investing another $1,000 into the *new* 2019 Top Ten Cryptos.

### Numbers for Nerds

Every month, look at ranking, monthly winners and losers, overall winners and losers, how the different Experiments compare to each other, how they've done combined, how they hold up vs. traditional investments, overall returns, Bitcoin dominance, and other data points.

So now that we're in a bull market, how have each of the Experiments performed?  That's what I cover in my monthly updates.  

Spoiler alert: things got very interesting recently!

I've tried to gear the Top Ten Index Fund Experiment posts towards beginners, hoping for an easy introduction to the cryptosphere, hence the @starthere moniker.

There is also a LOT of data that's been collected over the course of the Top Ten Index Fund Experiments. I hope someday it is put to good use.

### Sharing the Experiments

Since January 2018, it's been quite a journey. I committed to providing monthly updates, a task that has not always been easy, especially in the bear market years.

### Giving Hive/Leo a Try

I'm not sure how popular of an opinion this is on Hive, but I loved Steemit back in the day. 

It was very communal, very interactive, like the early days of the internet.  I even had the pleasure of meeting some Steemians in real life.  

I'm wondering if Hive/Leo will be similar.  I don't post that often (only four updates per month) but am curious about this new community and hoping to run into some old timers along the way. 

So, let's give it a shot!
