Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.

## Contests, Giveaways and Raffles!

The weekend has arrived and the contest list is full! Clear your schedule (for a little while anyway) and enter the contests that spark your interest. For more fun, check out the list on the SBI Discord server contest channel daily as many only last 24 hours or less and don’t qualify for the list below (mostly because they’d be expired before publishing). 

We’ve made some changes to the featured contest requirements. Please read that section below to see what’s happening - especially if you’re on the list right now. 

If you want your contest listed, the best way to get noticed is to post it in the contest channel in the SBI Discord server. 
 
Please try to think about your submissions and reward these great hosts with quality submissions. If you enjoy somebody’s contest format, check their feed for more, and follow them so you don’t have to wait for our listing to come out!

Each contest may have its own rules, so please read the contest post thoroughly before entering.    

## Today’s featured contests

### Updated featured contest rules
Starting next week the rules for featured contests will change. To be included you have to meet the current criteria:

-   SBI units must be part of the prizes given out.
-   Contest needs to be running 5 weeks or 10 contests on a consistent schedule, whichever comes first.

#### AND

-   Meet @ContestKing’s no upvote, no resteem, and no follow conditions.

If your recurring/featured contest doesn’t meet these rules it will be removed from the featured section next week. However, it can appear in the normal list as the only requirements are to include SBI shares as part of the prize pool and have 24 hours or more left to enter. 

**To Be Clear**: This change only impacts the featured or recurring contests. 

### @freewritehouse

The folks over at @freewritehouse run three contests each week. All of them are designed to encourage community engagement and highlight other's work. Besides the prizes from the @freewritehouse account, they are always interested in hearing from anyone who will sponsor a contest and so they can offer even bigger prizes.

**A Favorite Freewrite You Read** contest runs every Tuesday for just 24 hours. You need to read some freewrites written (you can read this post to see what they are), and then comment on the contest posts about which ones you liked best and why. If they choose your comment you win units of SBI.

**Recommend your Favorite Freewrite Poem** is a poetry version of the Favorite Freewrite contest and it runs every Friday. Make a comment about a freewrite poem you loved and you could win SBI units. But be quick! When Friday is over, so is the contest - until the next week that is.

**We-Write** is a new challenge where two writers create a single story using the freewrite prompt. It runs every other Wednesday with a prize of 4 SBI divided among winners.

Mizu No Oto is founded on the belief that every image has a haiku.  It’s an @bananafish contest curated by @marcoriccardi, a real haijin (haiku poet) and it's a great occasion to learn this form of poetry.

## Enrollment
If you want to get involved, or to increase the basic income that you receive, enrollment is pretty straightforward:

Just send 1 STEEM to @steembasicincome. Include the name of a Steemian to sponsor in the transaction memo (preceded by @). You and the person you sponsor will each receive 1 unit in the program. You can sponsor *any* active Steemian, it does not have to be a current member.

The official currency for enrollment is STEEM. If we choose to accept SBD without refunding it, you do *not* receive extra value for it.

Enrollments are processed automatically every 144 minutes. Confirmation transactions are still manual and typically are sent within 2-3 days. Even if you have not received a welcome transaction, you can check your status using `!sbi status`.
