Turning chores into a mindful practice.
Sometimes movies teaches us few important lesson of life. Last weekend I watched the old **Karate kid**. It was an entertaining movies with some basic tips to stay healthy. In The Karate Kid, Daniel training with Mr. Miyagi was unconventional, initially involving seemingly menial chores like painting the fence, waxing the cars, and sanding the floors.

> *Miyagi's training relies heavily on repetition and muscle memory. By having Daniel perform seemingly simple tasks like waxing cars and painting the fence, Miyagi is secretly teaching him defensive blocks and strikes.*

Ultimately, if was our day to day household chores that can allow us to stay fit improve the physical fitness. There is no need to spend time and money on Gym and other fitness training.

I have seen my mom and many women of earlier generation, staying fit even though they remain at homes. They are still very active. They engaged in a variety of tasks like cooking, cleaning, gardening, and fetching water, all of which contributed to their fitness without needing dedicated exercise routines. In the past women were constantly on the move, managing household chores that required physical exertion. Activities like carrying water, chopping wood, scrubbing clothes, and tending gardens provided a natural form of exercise. Household chores can contribute to fitness by providing physical activity and burning calories.

In the days, when there were no electronic devices and gadgets available for household chores, most of the works were carried out manually. Nowadays, people were at the ease of vacuuming cleaner, washin machine etc. Still they unable to stay fit and opt for going to gym to improve their physical fitness. In earlier times, tasks like vacuuming, mopping, gardening, and even laundry involve movement and engage different muscle groups, contributing to overall fitness and potentially aiding in weight management. Even the village ladies were involved in more strenous activities. Their daily tasks required significant physical effort, including walking long distances, carrying heavy loads, and engaging in repetitive movements. I have seen both the lives and really always appreciate the strength these ladies carry along with them. Even today they appear to be more stronger than any modern ladies out there at the helm of all the convenience and comfort.

To give an elaborate picture on how specific household chores can help in full body workout here are fee example :

**Mopping and Sweeping:** These activities engage leg muscles like quadriceps, hamstrings, and calves, and also require core engagement. Sweeping involves forward bends, stretching, and core activation. It helps in upper body workout and spinal flexibility.

**Washing cloth:** Cloth were washed manually using our hands. Tasks like carrying laundry baskets and folding clothes involve movement and muscle engagement. Washing clothes involves squatting, scrubbing, twisting, and wringing. This helps in strentgthing the arm.

**Grinding spices:** ain't eaelier times there were no grinder nor the packaged spices were available in market. Grinding spices was a manual task that involves, grinding over a stone slab in sitting position. Such activity allows the upper body strengthening. It require a cobtinous focus on the task.

**Gardening:** Digging, planting, and weeding involve various muscle groups in the arms, shoulders, and core.

There were many other task that were involved in day-to-day day routine. All those activities were contributing to their overall fitness. Lately, I have been doing some of the activites of my own and felt of not going for running or workouts.

It should be noted that household chores can be a form of physical activity and contribute to fitness, they are not a complete replacement for structured exercise routines. However, incorporating more movement into daily tasks, such as walking while brooming or using a wider stance while washing cloth of mopping, can help increase calorie expenditure and improve fitness.

**In good faith - Peace!!**
