Biggest obstacle of becoming millionaire...
“All I need is a couple quick wins…”

I went down a rabbit hole a few years ago asking myself this exact same question.

I’ve been obsessed with wealth creation my entire life (probably because we grew up poor) and as a result I spent every free minute I had reading and researching wealth building strategies.

From a very young age I would ask my mom to take me to the public library where I lived and I inevitably ended up in the “business” section.

Same thing happened at newsstands…instead of being drawn to the usual salacious men’s magazines, I was drawn to Forbes and Fortune.

When I got a little older and started working, I continued to spend a lot of money on books and courses searching for the solution.

In the end learned a lot but was no closer to becoming a millionaire than when I started.

I had learned all the strategies to build wealth AFTER one has a bit of money already, but that knowledge alone couldn’t help me get from point A to point B.

I still needed a nest egg of cash to begin with. And I wasn’t saving much at the time living paycheck to paycheck in NYC either…

I grew impatient and started making big erratic bets in the stock market…trying to make “quick wins” to rapidly grow my wealth…

I was young and naive and ended up losing 90% of what I “invested”.

In reality it wasn’t investing…it was gambling. And I had no business doing it.

Fast forward to present day and I can see clearly what the obstacles that prevented me from becoming wealthy were and how I could have over come them with much less angst.

* Dream Ridiculously Big - this is the easiest to do for most of us. How many times have we played the “what who I do if I won the lottery” game in our minds? The problem with most people is that they leave it as just that…a game. They don’t cement a firm goal in their mind. Dream big…ridiculously big. Have a concrete vision of what you want your life to be and repeat it over and over every day. Make it be your first thought when you wake up and the last thought before you go to sleep. Focus intensely and never take your eye off the ball. Learn to be long term greedy, and stop chasing short term wins. Look back in 10 years and you’ll be surprised at how far you’ve come.

* Work Your Ass Off - another “easy” one because it is all on you. You can control how you spend every hour of your entire existence. Talent and intelligence and what you were born with in this world is over rated. Hard work is the great equalizer. No successful business has ever been built from the ground up without a ridiculous and disproportionate amount of hard work. Don’t always be looking forward to 5pm and the weekends. Embrace hard work because it’s the only thing that will get you there.
Be Patient - ironically, this is the hardest of the three and it was the reasons that I was caught spinning my wheels for years of my life. I was young, naive and impatient. The “overnight” millionaires you hear about are few and far between and are not the norm. The sooner you get out of the “get rich quick” mentality and into the “build wealth slowly” mentality, you will start seeing results.
This moment in time that we live in right now is unique in that we have all the resources available at our finger tips (the internet) to achieve what once would have been nearly impossible…at little to no cost.
