It was at 9am this morning that I received a message from @monkeypattycake wishing me a good morning. It was then I remembered that today was Project Alinaga Day!

<h1>Project Alinaga</h1>
"Project Alinaga" is named after Marlon Ponsoy aka @flabbergast-art's indigenous musical group Tribo Alinaga.

>According to Marlon, Project Alinaga is to show awareness to the youth and for those volunteers to see the beauty of one's life regardless of special conditions, old age and for the street kids who were neglected by their parents.

We first met [Tribo Alinaga](https://web.facebook.com/Alinaga-1481464005411902/) during the [Musikalye Concert](https://steemit.com/steemph/@steemph/steemph-goes-to-musikalye-concert) in August 2017, organised by [YAKAL](https://web.facebook.com/yakal.org/)

>Musikalye is a yearly event hosted by YAKAL which aims to uplift our Filipino heroes. In the new age, YAKAL and Musikalye gives attention to modern heroes firstly to the Filipino workers that create to the riches of our Country, which includes industrial workers, farmers, fishermen, doctors, teachers, drivers, any many more. In this day of crisis and poverty, YAKAL gives importance to the subject of family where the Father and Mother are the heroes who are ready to give their all for their families.

It was one of our very first events and I remember the huge rush to get everything organised; rally the volunteers, get the sign made and the Steemit flyers printed out so the #SteemPh family could hand them out. I remember being extremely proud of everyone, especially @luvabi for speaking to the crowd about Steemit and Steemit Philippines.

<h1>Project Alinaga : Arts & Music Therapy Day</h1>

A month later we teamed up with Marlon and his band to put together an Arts and Music Therapy Day for special children, sponsored by @SteemPh, powered by Steemit.

From all reports it was a huge success. The kids were happy, the parents were happy, our volunteers were happy, we fed the kids Jollibee (for those who don't know, it is like the Filipino McDonalds but better!) and sent them home with colouring in books and crayons.

Not only did we get to do a good deed for our community, we also promoted Steemit while doing it. To me that's a win win.

<h1>Today.. November 21 2017</h1>

Today marks our second Project Alinaga collaboration and for one of our selfless volunteers the day began at 3am this  morning. By 6am, @steemph.manila's very own @steemitph and @monkeypattycake were stuck in [Edsa traffic](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EDSA_(road)).

<h1>Two birds, one platform.</h1>
Like all of our projects we aim to combine our community outreach with Steemit promotion and today is no different.

The unique situation we have today is, as @steemitph says it.

>In this event we are going to work with youth from both extremes of socio-economic class in the area. It is known that you've got to be in the upper socio-economic class to afford De La Salle tuition fees. In the morning, we will be working with education students and give them basic art training, and explain how art can help in educating children. We are very thankful to the University for allowing us to use their facilities in an afternoon session, this time with some 80 Cavite out of school youth. In the afternoon session, we aim to empower the working class with skills they can use for livelihood.

Steemit is for all. It is for the young, the old, the wealthy and the poor. It knows no borders.

To be able to work with youth from both extremes of socio-economic class in this case is amazing. It will also be amazing to be able to bring these people on to the platform and learn from their skills and experiences.

With @steemitph, @luvabi and @monkeypattycake there to answer their questions I have no doubt we should see some new Steemians soon.
