 He signed a 12 year $430 million extension today. Whether any athlete is worth that type of money is debatable, but if anyone is worth it, it’s him. He is only 27 and has won two MVP awards. It seems like he finished second in MVP voting every other year. He is a very old school player. He is quiet and polite. He does not show off and he plays hard all the time. He is what is known as a 5 tool player. He can hit, run, field, hit for power and run the bases well. He excels at every part of the game. Trout’s contract eclipsed the $330 million one that Bryce Harper signed with the Phillies a few weeks ago. The only other athletes who approach that type of money are boxers Floyd Mayweather and Canelo Alvarez. Trout now has his contract but the Angels have never been very good since he arrived.
