I'm doing my customary weekly check of various stats to see where Steemit stands after driving to work in very frosty conditions. No snow and the roads were okay apart from silly people using their fog lights unnecessarily. It's been a very good week for me with several posts earning multiple dollars thanks to some whale votes that included both @dan and @ned. I'm always grateful for those. It's mostly getting powered up with a little in savings in case I want to spend it, e.g. if someone [wants to send me some guitar picks](https://steemit.com/guitar/@steevc/send-me-your-spare-picks-for-steem-dollars). The Steem price is still floating around 16c. The fact that it hasn't dropped significantly recently gives me hope that people are keeping the faith. I think some whales are powering down, but enough are sticking around to maintain this stability. It's my feeling that the price won't raise dramatically without some dramatic change in the Steemit community. Currently it is gaining a few hundred accounts each day, but some of those may be bots. We need human users who are going to produce good content and bring in their friends. The numbers are unlikely to jump unless Steemit either gets major mainstream news coverage or if some web celebrities join up and encourage their fans to do so. The issue with celebrities is that they may not care that much about the money, but they want a big audience and Steemit can't currently offer that. The [Hypestat](http://steemit.com.hypestat.com/) stats show a slight improvement in the Alexa rank for the first time n a while. People do find Steemit via search engines and we need to convert those to signed up users who will vote. Today I listened to the [Steemit Talk Podcast](https://www.podbean.com/podcast-detail/sruah-43f98/Steemit+Talk+Podcast) on the way to work. I've not listened before, but it's cool to hear some members of the community talking about what is going on. They are using the [Discord](https://discordapp.com/channels/237364424103428108/237364424103428108) chat site that does voice to make this. I have been in there, but it's a matter of finding time. I've also been talking to @araki from Sudan about a possible Steemit project, but we're still working out how it could be implemented. It may involve distributing rewards to contributors to a post discussion and that really needs software. Is anyone releasing and apps to make this easier? Doing it manually would be a lot of work. I'm looking forward to another fun week. I don't really plan what I'm going to write as it depends on what I read or hear about. I'll be posting lots of comments as usual. I'm 39th in the [Steemwhales ranks by post count](http://steemwhales.com/?p=2&s=posts&hl=steevc). Not sure how much higher I can get. What a great week and Steem on!

I'm Steve, the geeky guitarist.
