It's great to see Steemit doing so well now. All these extra users are helping to drive people to the site with around 8000 joining in the last week. The [Alexa rank](http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/steemit.com) is  up to 12467. It's not been that good since last November. In the US and UK it's in the top 5000 and top 3000 in South Korea.

There's more stats at [Hypestat](http://www.hypestat.com/info/steemit.com) that exposes some details Alexa charge for. For some reason I can't get this page to refresh the numbers today.

The [Steem price](http://steemchart.com/Steemchart_USD.html) is good too, but I think there's potential for a lot more growth there as we acquire more users.

I do wonder how growth will affect Steemit. If we get some real big names joining then they may start taking a lot of the rewards. We have seen some cases of that already, but it will depend on what the whales do to start with. As Steemit gets more attention we may see investors buying their way in, but it will be expensive to reach whale level now. Those of us who are already in still have an opportunity to amass some SP. That will get spread much thinner when millions are competing for it. 

I've checked the Google News search for Steemit mentions, but there's nothing much new apart from more mentions of Shadow Brokers posting here. Is that bad publicity for Steemit? The platform is neutral and the lack of censorship will attract some dark forces. What is ISIS were to start posting here? I guess there is potential for those in control of the Steemit site to just not show posts from certain accounts, but they will still be in the blockchain and may appear elsewhere.
