I've heard a couple of mentions of [Mastodon](https://mastodon.social/about) recently, including [this post](https://steemit.com/mastodon/@katharsisdrill/mastodon-the-twitter-chiller) by @katharsisdrill. It's a sort of Twitter clone that can be federated across many servers.

It sounds something like [identi.ca](https://identi.ca/), which was a place full of geeks a few years back, but has changed into something else now. I used it for a while having been a Twitter user. I'm still on Twitter, but don't use it much. There just isn't time to be active on lots of social sites. My time is mostly split between Steemit, G+ and Facebook these days.

I have created a [Mastodon account](https://mastodon.nuzgo.net/@steevc) just to try it out. I can't promise I'll be active there.
