# Why real life connections are important for HIVE

### Small introduction 

As I've never written an article in this community, I first want to tell you guys something about myself. I am an 27 year old young man. For a long time I didn't really know about crypto currencies, nft's, the blockchain... Than I heard about bitcoin but thought it was a scam, a ponzi scheme, too good to be true, etc. 

So, how did I got involved in the Hive blockchain and its community, you may be wondering? Well, about 1 year and a half ago, I was bored and was on the search for a new game. I stumbled upon a phenom I never heard of before: **Play-2-earn** gaming. I started to look into it and first found Axie Infinity. It seemed an ok game to me. BUT at first sight it seemed that I had to invest quite some money if I would like to play the game properly. As I was still rather in disbelief to crypto currencies, I didn't want to invest any fiat money. 

So I searched further and stumbled upon [Splinterlands](https://splinterlands.com?ref=stekene). I found out that I just had to buy a spellbook of $10. This seemed okay to me as I've bought 'normal' games who were way more expensive. After Splinterlands, I discovered the blogging aspect of hive. In the beginning I didn't get it why others received decent upvotes and I didn't. Nowadays I get that qualitative posts and interaction are necessary to be rewarded. Seems logic ofcourse but yes, I guess I was blind at first. Afterwards I started playing Rising Star aswell. 

You're maybe wondering why such a long 'small introduction'? Well all these events all have one thing in common and no it's not just being on hive, it's that they have a link with **The Real Life**. 

### Splinterlands

Although the link here is maybe the smallest, I'll start with this one as it brought me to hive. About 1 year ago, on the 15th of February 2022, @splinterlands announced their partnership with [Waka Flocka](
https://peakd.com/hive-13323/@splinterlands/waka-flocka-partnership-announcement). Some were saying that the partnership didn't work out as was expected. For me it was an indication that there was a link with the irl life. Although it probably didn't really have a real impact on peoples lifes, it definitely was a link!

### Rising Star

I started playing [Rising Star](https://www.risingstargame.com?referrer=stekene) a few months after I discovered the Hive blockchain. One of the things which took my attention, was that they are supporting irl music artists. I guess that especially for upcoming talent, every bit of support is well coming.

Besides you're able to buy nft's of the music that those artists create, they are playing their music aswell as a kind of a radio. Would definitely recommend to check it out! By the way you don't really have to play the game to listen to the music, but if the webpage is open, it's ofcourse quite tempting to try out the game aswell. ;)

### Wrestling Organization Online (WOO) 

After I discovered the previous games, I discovered Wrestling Organization Online of @wrestorgonline, which is an upcoming play-2-earn game trying to bring territory wrestling to the hive blockchain in the form of a game. But the reason that I mention this project in this post is because the impact they are making on real life (retired) wrestlers.

WOO has some partnerships with real life retired wrestlers, like Perry Saturn, Raven, Sonny Onnoo,... These partnered wrestlers receive 10% from their respective sales. Also they get the market fees from their cards. This is part of their mission to help out wrestlers:

### HIVE

Yes, you read it right, HIVE itself, or atleast some people in the name of hive are really impacting some irl lives. [Here](https://peakd.com/hive-174578/@adedayoolumide/hive-sponsored-project-in-nigeria-water-is-life-hive-promotional-project-given-life-to-people) you can read about a 'one of a kind' water pump, it was really the only water facicility in a village in Nigeria. As it wasn't getting fixed, some people from Hive decided to repair it with the aid of the Hive community.

Another quite famous project is the construction of some [water wells](https://peakd.com/hive-189306/@collinz/successful-completion-of-phase-1-of-the-hive-water-project-in-ghana) in Ghana. I think that it's really amazing that a community like HIVE is making such an impact on the everyday living of people in a positive way. In the series of bore holes, 1 month ago the [sixth borehole](https://peakd.com/hive-189306/@collinz/hive-celebrates-world-water-day-with-the-successful-launch-of-the-sixth-borehole-in-ghana) already started to be digged. 

### Conclusion

All these mentioned projects are having a link and are even impacting the everyday lifes of people from all over the world. This alone is already quite an achievement and shows what this community is able to do.

But there's more, these impacts also give more credentials to HIVE. As I wrote in the introduction I used to be a disbeliever of crypto. But seeing these real life impacts, showed me that hive is alive and thriving. It's not a scam nor a ponzi, but a **community who's impacting the everyday life of people from all over the world!**

I know there are way more initiatives on hive, but I am aware that I'll always miss some. So my question to you guys:
