Thanks for all who provided answers to the [Steemit Survey](https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/B9YQLX3) You can still take it if you want. **PART 2** # 4. DO YOU FEEL SAFE ON STEEMIT? WHY OR WHY NOT? **{Showing 88 responses}** I feel safe. I have no enemies here, maybe because I'm trying to act in friendly way. Yes, call me naive but I rarely don't feel safe on the internet I completely don't understand the question. I don't feel safe in my bed, a comet could come crashing down or a sink hole swallow the whole house. I'm not afraid of pixels on my screen, though. I feel safe but can be a false impression in my opinion it s not safe enough for a banking system i have no friends so not really Yes Not sure. I've not been threatened, but I've seen other threatened and not much done about it. Yes Not sure what you mean with this question? Sure. Haven't revealed my identity. To a degree. I don't know. Isn't it anonymous if you want it to be? yes for sure! Yeah, I'm an alpha male. I stopped living in/from Fear a good while ago. I ignore the trolls, especially "feminist". Don't feed the beasts. I imagine it is a major concern for females though, and proper safeguards should be in place, though the fact the blockchain remembers everything means such hateful folk as "feminist" are leaving a paper trail. I have not had any safety issues, I am aware of stellabela's problem, but not the details. I have become less likely to show my vulnerability in my writing. But no one reads my stuff. Yes, I feel safe in steemit because the admin is taking care of us and they are continuous pursuit to upgrade the platform. Yes... but I have posted pretty vanilla stuff. It might be different if I posted something controversial. I'm not afraid to but I'm trying to stay positive in my life right now. No, not at all. I'm concerned that I've written too many revealing things about myself on here. Also, I had a person troll me after I left an assertive (but not rude) rebuttal to his blog post. Yes. But I am probably not much of a target. Absolutely not. As far as anonyminity goes, there is almost none for any successful Steemer. We are required to verify ourselves, putting our identities at risk. If that wasn't enough of a downfall, Steemer's that are already well known gain much more traction on Steemit. As far as feeling safe, I have never felt safe on Steemit. I, and many others, have been victims or harassment and stalking, to which there has been little done to resolve this (aside from the reputation system, which only makes it harder to see flagged content). The mute feature still does not work, and there is no penalties for harassment-- this is one of the many reasons I went from blogging every day, to not at all. Yes. It's the internet. They can't touch me. Yep. Yes No, definitely not. I am a woman and I have seen many women stalked, threatened and harassed to the point they are afraid to go onto this website. Flagging an abuser usually results in the abuser getting off on the flagging, which results in more abuse. Until there is a way to block abusive people, my activity on steemit remains little. Perfectly safe, I know how to use my computer. I'm a woman and picked a name that doesn't reveal who I am. I have seen some vile, aggressive talk directed at other women. Yet I'm afraid to flag the aggressor because of retaliation. The flagging feature also forces me to moderate my responses in conversations. If I disagree with a whale, will he flag me? So I guess my answer is "No." I guess so. I'm really worried about people stealing my identity or anything like that. I feel as safe as I do anywhere else online..not very safe at all. So while the site is censorship free I'm sure many women like myself find themselves censoring themselves and staying away from certain topics to avoid the usual backlash and bulshit from that very small group of guys who would rather we shut up and got back in the kitchen. However until a website finds a way for us to block not only a user but their ip address to prevent them simply making a new account to view our content we will always have this issue. a report abuse button should be implimented at the very least so that repeat offenders can be dealt with. yes Totally safe. Yep. I am a male so fairly yes but I know that if I was a female it would be hard to feel safe. Too much misogyny Yes. Although I do see that some have been treated abusively. Mainly by one user. While I believe all people should have a voice, hate speech or that which makes users feel unsafe should be cause for some type of punishment that can be brought up and voted on by the community. Yes, steemit it's not shelter for me so i don't really think about this matter I understand why you're asking. More or less the same as on other sites. Yes. If I have safety issues, I would possibly go to police. Steemit is a social media platform. I haven't heard about any Facebook Police department, no? Yes. I don't engage in a way that makes men angry. Safe is very vague. I don't feel it is wise to be to open about your personal life online. Steemit is no exception. Yes and no, because nothing is save in our world today... I have not had any problems, only some stupid fundamentalist christian criticising me. But I understand that there is a safety issue. Yes. At no point am I ever physically in harms way. Emotions may be uncomfortable, but they don't cause me directly bodily harm beyond what I allow them to via my own insecurities and shortcomings. Not everyone can answer as I am. Some have very really physical reactions to harmful words and I am not speaking for them here. I have worked to protect those people. Yes, very much so. Yes. Not perfect, but less trolling than other websites that are open. As safe as I feel anywhere else on the internet Yes no Steemit is a power full system and this is safe for us Yes Fairly safe. Nothing out of the ordinary happened to me. Yes, never had any problem. I did not post my photo and not planning to do it. Yes Nobody knows I'm here, so I suppose I'm safe. Even if they did, not like they would reply or vote or message me. Yes, I feel safe. I haven't encountered any issues with hostility or cyberbullying. Yes, anonymous Hum... not sure. Everything is on the blokchain you know. Yes i do , I feel as though there are dangers and possible harassment but as I am not known as much it won't happen to me I have a good reputation so it is hard for people to impact me. If I were new then the down voting and how it could censor me might be a concern. I absolutely feel safe on Steemit. I've only had one instance where a member did not respect an OPINION. I usually yes them to death and agree that they must absolutely know how I think better than I do. Passive-aggressive behavior at it's finest - except they're too stupid to appreciate it. Safe as anything else on the Internet I do feel safe, but that's partially because I haven't happened to see any of the really ugly stuff I've heard about. Especially when there are photos of what I look like and as I loosen up and share photos of where I live...It wouldn't be hard for someone to take advantage of the information I've provided, were they to decide to try. Especially knowing how tech-savvy so many Steemit users are, I am aware of being vulnerable. I feel I'm among friends on steemit for the most part. Why did you not make the next question open ended? I feel my voice matters proportionally to the time and effort I put into it. It is not a yes or no question to me. Yes; the real world has far more dangers, IMO No. There are a lot of hackers and scammers using it. So far yes. Not had any abuse yet apart from a bit of spam Not more or less than on any other platform. Yes, trolls are everywhere, fuckin deal with it. After installing a 100 digit password, pretty much Sure. I feel safe but I have to be extra thoughtful about my posts and comments. So far I have no reasons not to feel safe. Yep. I am not controversial. Safe? Oh yeah, you're the cunt that expects a website to magically prevent doxing? Stupid cunt No. I need some anonymity and I have lost a quarter of 'my' money. I do feel safe. I choose not to give out personal information and I generally don't take positions on controversial topics, so I feel I am less of a target for harassment than others. I act how I act because everything is recorded on the block chain permanently and can be analyzed by people or programs to learn more about a person than I am willing to share online. as safe as anywhere else Yes. It's not easy to make me feel unsafe. Not really. I have to keep my head down. I'm reluctant to post about social justice issues that matter to me. I'm LGBT and I see a lot of homophobic and transphobic content that people act like is perfectly normal. No one seems to care if someone is doxxed or trolled or harassed violently. I've seen other women leave the site. Yes though I do t like that my wallet value is so accessible to anyone. Yes, but only because I don't share really personal matters nor photos I don't have a reason to feel unsafe yet. The potential is there for bad things to happen though. Yes Absolutely YES Nope, it's been hacked once already and it still doesn't have 2FA on the front-end. So far, yes. No bad experiences to report at all. Meh I do feel safe Yes. Yes. Sure sort of but not completely.

# 5. DO YOU FEEL LIKE YOUR VOICE MATTERS ON STEEMIT?

# 6. WHEN YOU VISIT THE TRENDING AND HOT PAGES, DO YOU FEEL LIKE THE ARTICLES THERE ARE WORTH READING? **{Showing 90 responses}** Definitely not. They are not worth reading at all. Maybe just 1 of 10 such trending posts are interesting for me. Some, it seems like there is a lot of talk on how to get better at steem which I am not that interested in, I just want to blog. Yes of course, but not all of them by me. Yes it's quite ok but can be better, still a lot of crap not all of them Yes Yes, but not all of them. I get tired of anarchy posts. We get it. Government is bad. Less than 50% of times There are great articles on these pages and I really take time to actually read the whole article if it is in a topic I am interested in. Alas, sometimes an article promises to be good and then turns out to be utterly crap. Nope. 1/10. There's a LOT of shit though. I mostly read new. I don't think trending stuff is always good. I can't understand why some trending stuff reaches $ thousands when not THAT good most often yes they are a great read Generally speaking yes. There has been an over abundance of "Introduce Yourself" and "Steemit" focused posts, also "celebrity Cult" stuff, but I feel this will settle down in due course after the initial honeymoon period. Sometimes, It is not ALL 'high quality' worthy of its position. Some is just whales voting for whales and is no more than average. Not all of them. Hit or miss. I'm not big into crypto coin so I skip those. I would like a wider range of topics though. No, I don't. Bad poetry, rants, anarchist/mercenary blogs, doomsday posts, etc.seem to prevail. yes Not most of them. A few are though. It's the popular kids in the frat house who are always on the front page. No. Not really. Some times (Fuck dollarvigalante) Absolutely. Sometimes. There are some good articles. There's also a lot of junk. Through comments I've learned that some whales create fake writers who post very superficial articles. Then they and their whale friends vote for the fake account. Win-win for the whales again. A few are. Most are not. I think a lot of the whales vote on each other's articles. This causes them to trend. I'm getting tired of seeing Dollar Vigilante's articles trending all the time. I don't know I never visit them. Not most of them. I mainly upvote them because I might make profit if it goes really big. From a quality perspective, not always. Usually yes. There is a lot of vapid content that does too well. Most of them are not worth. Most of them are there because whales propegate them for profit Some but definitely not all. Nope, it's a free market, so i can choose what to read I avoid those pages like the plague. Some are worth reading. But I am bored of reading over and over about from same authors, that includes Stellabelle's and Dantheman posts. (hey, Dan you are doing it wrong if you want to change the world) I don't care about that. sometimes Not every time Some of them, but definitely a lot of crap as well. Well written crap, but still crap. Yes Sometimes Yes. I find good content and it's good for discovering new and interesting content quickly. It's hard to find new things online these days. Sometimes No. I wonder what whale they know/blow no I'm visiting trending and hot pages continuously, articles a worthy those in trending and hot pages. Not all of them Not really. Yes, I enjoy them Rarely. But sometimes I like them No It tends to fluctuate; some days the top several posts are almost exclusively Steem or crypto related. I prefer to see a variety of topics represented. Some, not everyone has the same taste, so maybe that is a good thing? It depends. Some articles are good some not. Unformately Whales decides. No matter what people may say, and I am one of people who don't like to ear people complaining and whining but the system is style too pyramidal. Not always. Some , But sometimes shit-posts pop up and it annoys me that they earned so much Some of them. Yet usually I read them before they were trending. I don't believe there is enough variety on trending. It could stay the way it is but, I do not think having it as the default landing page provides the best cross section of what steemit has to offer. I rarely visit the trending or hot pages because it's always the same people or the same articles for MONTHS. Kind of sad that there isn't a way to highlight stellar content without spending a fortune promoting one's own or a friend's quality content. Sometimes Yes and No. Often, when I open an article that's trending, I do find myself surprised at how much better it is than I had assumed. For instance, I didn't know who Charlie Shrem was, but I have loved every one of his posts. There are others who often trend, however, who seem more to have people rooting for them than to be knocking it out of the park every time. I root for my favorites, too, but I read and comment. I don't upvote mediocre posts. One worrisome thing I have seen pointed out is that some who have had every post trend, recently, have not shared validation photos, clearly don't have pre-existing followings and are sometimes even presenting dubious authority, such as msgivings telling girls they'll be cheated on for being virgins. I love Steemit for being open to every perspective, but that article made it to the very top of trending, was highly paid, and was nothing more than a bitter rant by someone we know nothing about. The author didn't even bother responding to comments, except to the one person who called them out on not responding. I don't think many of the people who upvoted read that particular article. The suspicion that trending articles aren't always being read calls Steemit's integrity into question. How can we insist we value quality when we're whale chasing, upvoting with bots, and simply not engaging with the content being upvoted? Yes. I spend quite a bit of time looking at those 2 categories. 60% of the time, yes. Some, but not all. I don't tend to read those as much as those on my feed Mostly, but not always. Some, depends on the topic, but I don't expect everything to twinkle and shine, standing out. It's based on what the whales like and if I'm not in accordance with anything they enjoy well I guess my favourite topics won't reach the trending or hot pages. But some stuff appeals, most does not. Sometimes, I myself don't read too much anyway Maybe 50% of them are worth reading. I often read the others even if I'm not really in agreement with the authors thoughts or opinions. some of them have some "juice". and i like reading them. Some of them. New should be default not trending imo. Sometimes I never read trending pages. Well I do read Charlie Shrem...but you know he is an exception. I read about half the articles on the main Trending page. sometimes Sometimes. I mostly monitor the "Active" tab. More diverse and unpredictable content there, or so it seems. Not at all. There is the occasional gem, but if you look closer, you can see that most of the content is generic, sensationalized, rewritten from other sources, or downright boring. Sometimes Oh yes, not all the time but some times I never go to Trending or Hot pages. No Sometimes Some are, most of the trending are people that just promote steemit and maybe a few good stories in-between but it seems to be if you don't promote steemit or a whale of some kind you get no up-vote. No. I tend to connect more with either the new page or something of a particular interest community like Spirituality and such. Few half I don't understand the algorythm for Hot. Sometimes, there are articles less than 5 minutes old with 2-6 votes. How are they hot. Tranding seems to make sense Not so much. Sometimes. I don't tend to look there. I check active/new and my feed not exactly

Part 3 of this survey is here: https://steemit.com/steemit/@stellabelle/steemit-user-survey-results-part-3
