Welcome to a new episode in the stemng digest series where we bring to you some of the best posts under the #stemng tag in the past week. Let me start with an apology for the little delay in this week's episode, it was due to some real life circumstances.

Apart from the rewards and meeting awesome people from all over the world, learning new things is one of the best attributes of steemit. Who could have thought that electricity could be generated by movement of bodies on surfaces? Well, I am as ignorant as some of the readers. Piezoelectric crystals has been demonstrated to be able to generate electricity by installation of piezoelectric transducer on moving surfaces. You all can read more on @gtan's blog.

Perhaps we will get to a point where artificial intelligence will take over everything. I have always known dolphins to be awesome animals. Not talking about steemit dophins here :). Here in this post, @samminator showed us how dolphins were been taught to speak human languages and not just that, the development AI powered software that could translate the animal's language was also illustrated. What else can AI not do?

Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation (LASER) are not just about weapons, they a wide range of applications in communication, computers and many other fields. There is no doubt that only a small portion of the radiations from the sun reaches the earth. This means that a lot of absorption, reflections or probably re-absorption must have happened along the way via the ozone layer, the clouds and perhaps the atmosphere. A really beautiful piece of work from @agbona. The world of genes, DNA, cloning and clones is a really complex one. However, this article made it simpler to understand the basics of all these terms. Ever heard about the story of dolly the sheep? Well, it was not actually a fiction, it was a real life experiment aimed at cloning. Go over to @agbona's blog to read more on these phenomena.

Communication is an essential part of existence. Even though there are wide varieties of communication between human to human, human to animals, human to machines and vice versa, there is no doubt that data is becoming increasingly crucial in every form of communication. Exactly how are data used to communicate? @noble-noah took us through the basics of it. A really enjoyable one, I must say.
