Found these lovely young Chicken of the Woods mushrooms this morning.  Such bright color they were hard to miss 😆

I have found Chicken of the Woods here before and there are lots of small mushrooms getting started here.  I will likely return later today and harvest some.  "Laetiporus is a genus of edible mushrooms found throughout much of the world. Some species ... are commonly known as chicken of the woods, the chicken mushroom, or the chicken fungus because it is often described as tasting like and having a texture similar to that of chicken meat." - wikipedia

I was specifically looking for the Chicken of the Woods today but here are a few other mushrooms that are out right now in my neck of the woods.  Specifically in Addison County, Vermont.  I don't live in the flatlands of the Champlain Valley but on the edge, in the foothills of the Green Mountains.

Sorry for the poor photo, but these shelf mushrooms working their way up and around a tree is a fun picture.  The tree looks like hemlock so they maybe Reishi (Ganoderma tsugae).

For those of you admiring the plentiful mushrooms in this part of Vermont, I saw this warning sign of things to come... 😅
