<center></center> [Image Source](https://next-episode.net/far-from-home-2022) <div class="text-justify">I usually don't see movies or any show made locally. Nollywood has fallen off badly, almost as bad as Bollywood (no offense). Albeit with recent times, there have been some fine shows and films. The majority of them end up on Netflix and you will agree that Netflix is taking the film industry by storm. I have been anticipating the release of this show for some time now, and when it was finally released I jumped straight at it. I was actually thinking it was a full movie, but it turned out to be a series. Typical filmmakers to try milk every story to the end.</div> #### ABOUT >! [Hidden Spoiler Text] <div class="text-justify"> The movie tells a story of a young man (Ishaya - played by [Mike Afolarin](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm10404026/)) who has a huge dream of becoming a world-renowned artist, with his talents, but he is at a disadvantage as he comes from a poor home, and he lives in the slums of Lagos. He lives with his mother, sick father, and sister. He doesn't attend school, as he tries to sell his art to raise money to follow his big dreams. He somehow found his way to a prestigious school in the city amongst the elite, but a series of bad decisions threaten to destroy his life and that of the people around him. The first season of the show is five episodes long, each spanning between thirty to fifty minutes long.</div> > #### THE BAD <div class="text-justify">Oh my days where do I start? Okay, I will start with the first scene. The first part was where the protagonist was dreaming of a fancy life and him achieving his dreams. That already gave off the whole idea of the story. The one thing that really put me off was that, as much as this was a Nigerian Tv show, it didn't portray the full "Nigerianess". The high school setting is not one that a lot of Nigerians are familiar with. I did not go to a fancy high school, but it still lacked that relatability. It felt like a bunch of overaged adults playing the roles of teenagers and all. Then there were the endless cliche scenes. It was quite irritating. From the scene where he got to the school, to the new friends, and then the falling in love, etc. The scenes also were undermining the audience's IQ with the skewed logic employed. I mean, how can you fake your result and have no proper background check!!! COME ON. We are not that dumb. The characters were just too overdramatic at times, gee. I can go on and on about the shitty bits of the show, but let's stick with these ones.</div> #### THE GOOD <div class="text-justify">This kinda feels pointless now, with how much I have talked bad about it, but to be fair I actually thought there were some good bits in the show. The try-hard comedy wasn't bad at all. I actually laughed at some parts. I was glued to my screen all through that day to see how the whole thing pans out, so I'd say the plot was pretty good. The acting was good too. Some top actors were featured.</div> #### STREAM OR SKIP <div class="text-justify">This is one of those types of shows where I'd say go see it for yourself and make of it what you will. I personally would rate it a 2.9 out of 5. It wasn't a bad series, and it was surely above average but I definitely would not say it is one of the best things I have seen this year. The whole thing just felt too cliche and unoriginal. Like we were trying so hard to replicate the western system.</div><br> Thank you for reading. This is not my finest review, but hey, you get what you get, lol. The new Peakd spoiler option has helped a lot, so if you don't want spoilers, **don't click the blue box above.** Till next time. Cheers.
