<center><h1>Consensus New York 2018</h1></center>

Bitcoin did in fact jump up about 5% in price this morning. Many will say it is just a coincidence and has nothing to do with the Blockchain conference going on in New York this week. In recent news, many analyst have claimed that the [Consensus Conference](https://www.coindesk.com/events/consensus-2018/) actually influences the price of Bitcoin, especially after the conference is over. Others claim that there is no price correlation to the Consensus Conference, and some have even stated that this is a ploy by the whales who will sell Bitcoin down after the conference.

Well, there might be something to the Bitcoin price and the Consensus Conference. The conference started bright and early this morning with a 7am breakfast and registration in New York City. At 8:30 am the conference began with an opening speech by the host and at 9:00 am the first guest speaker began his talk.

Coincidentally or not, it was around this same time that the price of Bitcoin began to rise.  The Bitcoin price was around $8,350 early this morning. At around 9am New York City time, the price of Bitcoin jumped by 5% and currently sits at about $8,750. Hopefully as the Consensus Conference continues and the speakers continue to inspire the cryptocurrency world, the price of crypto's goes back to December '17 and January '18 prices.

Or do you think it had more to do with the Winklevoss' [Gemini Exchange](https://gemini.com/) adding Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin and Zcash to their exchange that affected the Bitcoin price?
