*There are some compelling things in our lives that we just can't seem to go without.. They aren't killing us, but we might do well to kick them to the curb.. here's another habit I wish I could get rid of in my ongoing segment..*

*Coffee*.. my bane, my nemsis, you are so conniving and insidious.. crippling and demanding.. unreasonable and unfathomably.. *delicious*..

I'm one of those.. "don't talk to me until I've had my coffee" kind of people. I wake up cranky, easily irritable and generally irascible.  In short I'm not pleasant to be around.. until I've had my kick.. When I get out of bed, I need a caffeine boost.. STAT! It's ugly, but until I've imbibed my Morning Joe, steer clear.

Often times, when my wife is scouring for something to eat.. all I care about is getting my lips around a cup of fresh brewed liquid Java.

It dictates my whole morning, I'm a helpless slave, out-of-control rage machine.. I'm a manic zombie until I can resurrect myself with a shot of espresso to the bloodstream.

After my daily cuppa', I'm a LOT easier to deal with..

I'm not just a one-cup-a-day guy, either.. I need multiple refuels to get me through.. 

It's an obsession. I don't care in what form it comes either. I mean.. of course it has to be GOOOD coffee.. *Life is too short to drink bad coffee*.. but I'm not a memorize-your-order-at-starbucks type.. I'm a sucker for all different types of frothy, slightly sugared, caffeinated goodness.

Iced mochaccino, caramel macchiato, vanilla americano, and even an amaretto affogato.. it doesn't matter.. i'll relish every double roasted drop.

I am somewhat of an aficionado, but in the end.. as long as I can get my hands on some fresh brewed cafe', I'm peachy..

I guess life would be so much easier if I could just break the control coffee has on my every waking moment.. Sluggish, grumpy and clumsy in the morning.. followed by mind consuming craving quest to consume a cup.. moments of respite and possible productivity in the day.. as long as I'm hooked up to an espresso IV drip.. little spikes of energy.. forgetting about half-life.. staying up waaay too late to catch up on workless-wasted-mornings.. eventually crashing into restless sleep... wake up cranky.. repeat..

Yeah, life would be a WHOLE lot better If I could kick the coffee addiction..
