Migrate to 256GB m2-> 1TB m2 with Acronis True Image I have moved the Win10 on a 256GB m2 SSD to a 1TB m2 SSD. Migration work itself is not difficult, but if you know in advance what is and what is not, it is not really a separate task ... If you do not know anything, trial and error is huge TT I'm using mata as my C drive and my sata SSD as my D drive. Method 1. Run "Create System Image" in Windows 10 -> Back up existing m2 to another -> Change m2 to higher capacity -> Boot to Windows 10 Recovery DVD -> Restore the backed up contents to the newly installed m2 If you restore the contents of 256GB m2 to 1TB m2, only the first 256 gigabytes will be filled in and the remaining 700 gigabytes of free space will be left behind. I started to know about it. My friends told me it would not work if I had to pull up the C drive, but there were a couple of Dell Support's partitions between C and the last 700 gigabytes of space, so I could not get C up. It will not move, nothing will happen. Method 2. How to install Acronis True Image on Windows 10 to try to clone a disk There are also some difficulties with this method. a. When you receive Acronis for WD, it will be executed only if WD hard disk is connected to the computer. If you download Seagate, it will only work if Seagate hard disk is connected. TT (Fortunately, last m2 is WD and there are several Seagate external hard drives in the house, how did you solve it). Of course, if you buy a genuine product, regardless of the disc maker, it will be a little burden ... TT b. Having Acronis installed on Windows 10 does not mean that everything is done on the Windows 10 GUI. I do not know what drive to clone, how to configure the partition, but in Windows environment, the actual copying process will be rebooting to DOS mode (my GUI is available and my mouse can be used). However, there is the best pitfall here. If SATA mode is set to RAID ON in the BIOS setup, you will not be able to recognize m2 when rebooting to DOS mode later (I will not be able to define exactly what mode it is). I thought I was going crazy because of this real thing. Of course, it's nothing if you know ... I know it's hell before I know ... This part can be solved by changing SATA mode to AHCI. But there is another trap here. If the existing Windows 10 is a window under RAID ON state, it will not boot after changing to AHCI. This part can be solved by setting AHCI only when copying and then turning it back to RAID ON when copying is finished. Method 3. How to create and boot recovery media using Acronis True Image on Windows 10 Personally, this is the best method. I succeeded in this way. Create recovery media from Acronis True Image There are two big options when you go in. There is a quick boot CD creation and a winpe based boot CD creation. What is important here is that if the CD is RAID ON, m2 is not recognized. However, if you use WinPE based, m2 will be recognized even if RAID ON. You do not have to pay for MS because you are based on winpe. If you want to create a quick boot CD or create a winpe, you need to touch the BIOS setup. For my Dell G5 notebooks, the default setting is only UEFI bootable. To be able to boot DVD or external hard boot freely, you need to change the BIOS setting to allow legacy booting. If you create a quick boot CD in Acronis, it will not boot if BIOS is set to boot only UEFI.
